You didn't think high air pressure in the front tyres would make the front end feel light?

I knew it would be read that way when I typed it. To add info, I got in the car this morning to find that it was moaning about air pressures being low and also lower on one side than the other. This was since I had the tyres swapped for the new winters on Saturday. NF/NR were on 35 psi and OF/OR were on 33/32 psi. This has made no difference anyway as I had the torque steer prior to the new tyres being put on.

As the Winters are 295 width and have softer sidewalls I believe, that is why I gave them a try on 40 front/37 rear. No difference in feel, other than possibly being slightly better than when running the odd pressures above. I am contemplating trying say 39 all round to see if that in any way is somehow noticeable in the back regarding the squatting, but I doubt it.

The tyre pressure advisory Sticker on my car is the same as this one:

Image

It suggests going up to 44 front and 41 rear on 285/30 R21 winter tyres.
I am currently running 41and 38 on my 275/35 R20 winter tyres. They do feel softer that the 285/30 R21 summer tyres at the same pressure, so may try the higher setting and see what that is like. Does seem very high though. The fully loaded 49 front 51 rear setting seems like they want you to concrete in your tyres rather than air!

Glyn, thanks a lot for that, as mentioned by someone else on the thread that pic came from I believe, my Sticker shows different pressures to yours (hmm, going to be a saddo and go take a photo in a mo to confirm am not totally mad).

Personally, I find that the Sticker is in such a stupid position (either inside the fuel filler cover or on the actual door pillar makes sense to me) on the door and with my height too, it is a pain in the arse. Case in point, I didn't actually see the very bottom tyre selection if that is on my Sticker.....

Going to stick a few more psi in the back, i normally run even pressures all round on the old girl and nothing to lose trying it on this one.

Yes this was discussed before when I posted a photo of my Sticker that other people had different values on theirs.

Right, well I am still playing the "you have to be a bloody midget to see that stupidly-placed Sticker properly" card, but I just didn't notice the bottom (Winter) tyre rating on my Sticker at all, dur. I still can't understand how the hell they think the Sticker is in a sensible place where it is??? I am going to 41/38 combo first and go from there.

I am going to see if Audi can possibly order me in one of those 4G0 010 502 BN Stickers. Did both of yours (Mike/Glyn) come with non-air suspension by any chance?

As expected, my pressures show this -
