Found the pictures, this is from a 2015 RS7, gearbox service using ZF’s guidelines and parts. So Tadass, you’re saying this is OK to leave in? The gearbox oil should be golden in colour, it was black and the magnets covered in sludge.

Out of interest and no more no less, has anyone had any gearbox issues refused under warranty for opening up a sealed not for service unit and changing the oil . I’m
Not indicating that the service was the cause and I’m sure Audi would have a hard time blaming fresh oil for a gearbox issue but it strikes me that as this is a service outside of manufacturers recommendations , the door is slightly ajar for an uncomfortable conversation should a gearbox go bang
She may be big and heavy but its whats on the inside that counts.....

If it could be proven that it had absolutely been opened and that it was done by a specialist and not by a certified Audi dealership (who don't want to do it anyway as they want to tow the company "Sealed for life" BS line), I would fully expect that Audi wouldn't honour a warranty claim on said gearbox.

Right to the point Audi won’t cover warranty because oil sealed for life. Do you think idiots creating rs6?

My car is no longer 8n warranty so I’m damn sure I’ll believe what the manufacturers of the gearbox say is necessary to keep it working, not what a customer of the manufacturer ‘suggests’ is necessary because it believes it will never see a car with the mileage on the clock that is within warranty that would necessitate a service.

Put it another way, there are only a handful of cars that use the ZF 8HP55 gearbox so if they are ‘sealed for life’, why do ZF, the manufacturer of the gearbox, do a service kit for them?
