After my car went back to have the 3rd key deleted but they could not do, I got Audi uk involved, now the car will be going to my local audi dealer to get the work done at a cost to the dealer that sold me the car.

I've been an C7 RS6 owner now for 6 weeks and had exactly this issue. MMI was showing 3 keys initialised and i was given only 2 digital fobs and NO plastic key.

I contacted the dealer who to my surprise told me NOT TO worry about it, leaving me totally flabbergasted at their attitude. So I immediately spoke with Audi UK and simply asked
them if there was a security risk to which they agreed and on my behalf contacted (phoned & emailed) the dealer.. .. who then promptly jumped through hoops to get me in
and have the MMI system updated to the only 2 keys in my possession.

Prior to this, the dealer had mentioned re-initialisation would be a charged for service but thankfully it was all done without any cost to me and in under 30 mins. I have to say the sales/customer service people at the dealership seriously need to educate themselves on matters such as this. They spout such proverbial I suspect my 6yr old could smell it. I cannot
believe i bought the car from such tools.

The no plastic key issue... that is still up in the air. I was told get a tracker and steering lock disc .. PFFF.
So there’s still a key out there that will open your doors and give potential intruder 30 seconds to fumble around with your car. You need to go back to AUK and demand all your key locks to be changed.
Update: Spoke with Audi UK and presented my dilemma to them (again) which they claimed should not pose a security risk now issue because I have had the only 2 keys in my possession recoded (initialised) to my car.

However for peace of mind they advised I contact the Audi dealer and confirm what was done prior. I managed to speak directly with the Master Technician who previously re-coded my 2 keys and initialised them with my MMI.

He explained, my vehicle can now only be started by the two keys (FOBS) that are initialised. No 3rd key (or plastic emergency key) can start my vehicle. However, the original plastic key (which nobody knows its whereabouts) CAN manually open my door BUT it will need to be placed in a FOB containing a transponder that has to be recoded to my car before it can start it.

.. so am now inclined to put this matter to rest and trust his explanation as i don't believe there will be or could any better placed person to provide further insight or re-assurances.
