RS6 In The snow?

I’ve got to drive from london to Bournemouth tomorrow and the snow forecast is blizzard conditions. I’m up for it, but how does the RS6 Quattro perform with road tyres in the snow? Obviously flat out is ideal, it I don’t think the M3 is the best place to try that.

Does Quattro have a form of diff lock when it gets a bit tricky?

The diff isn’t the problem, its 2+ tonnes of metal without any traction.

Seriously though, do not rely on any 4wd system to save you in the snow, it wont.
Safer than a bike though.

I’ve been driving around all week in mine with no issues actually been a laugh but having winter tires on has made a big difference

Winter tyres are the answer in all honesty.
As good as the quattro system is for pulling away and going up hill, most of the issues you'll have in the snow are not being able to stop, and all the driven wheels in the world aren't going to help there.
An Rs6 (or an Rs4 in my case) is still a near 2 tonne car on very wide, lightly cut tyres and just becomes a sledge when the roads get icy or covered in snow like they are now
Winter tyres transform it and make a world of difference, but most of the chance of being in a prang this time of year is someone else ploughing straight into you when they can't stop, so personally, I'd just avoid driving if you can

Mine is pants. My daughters two wheel drive mini is much better in the snow and ice. I thought about winter tyres but a lot of money for a few days a year

My RS4 was doing great on it's winter tyres this morning, very smug was I!
That was until I beached it on top of a snow drift and had to dig it out

I've driven my RS4 B7 in heavy snow on the M1 and in the Alps. As long as you have decent tread you are better than rear or front wheel drive cars. But having said that you still need to be extremely cautious. Pull off in a higher gear, use your gears to slow down and brake with at least 6 times the distance. You probably know all this anyway. Go if you need to but my advice is either fit winter tyres or stay at home with a beer or two.

The B7 is much better in the snow than the C7.

I was out in the C7 this evening in very tricky conditions. But as said already I was most concerned about other people driving into me and being able stop. Quattro isnt much use if all 4 wheels are locked and you are sliding. There was one BM struggling to pull off from a roundabout then snaking on the straight but thankfully most people were driving sensibly.

If I could avoid it I would. Mines been out with summer Dunlop’s for last few days and it’s been very sketchy. Had an unexpected sideways slide on a dual-carriage way, squeaky bum time.... best avoid if you can, unless you have winter tyres and that case what are you for, get out and have some fun!

Kerbed my rear right badly after getting on ice - Quattro is great with winter tires but 295s are too wide for traction. Anybody want to sell a five spoke titanium finish?
