Extended Warranty £££

Post by K1Mac » Mon Sep 25, 2017 12:14 pm

tried doing a search on this but couldn't find anything.

my RS6 manufacturer warranty is up at the end of November and I've been trying to get a ball park on the price of extending it, been told by Audi they won't/can't give a price till 30 days before it ends and suggested that it's calculated on individual basis. So does this mean the pricing is specific to the specs?

anyone able to give ball park figures?

thanks.

Just got my quote at £566 that’s with a £250 excess and car doing less than 10k miles a year. My car as 14000 mile on clock, think current mileage my affect price.

that's roughly what I thought it might be, although I'm sitting at 28k mls, so wonder how much more this would affect it

It's not that good, have the same miles (13k) and jut did the quote too, all component cover <10k miles PA + £250 excess = £1083.38
Named component: £780.14

Isn't it a bit strange that two of the same car have different costs?

Not doubting you :) Just find it strange that there's a difference.

Perhaps it's because I've had the brakes replaced under warranty for warped disks?

Also, mentioned in the first service (car is in just now) there was a clicking noise coming from the FR wheel, they've got something on the Audi system saying the bearings needs stripped down and re-greased with a different type of grease:

If others can share their quotes and repair history we might be able to work out their method?

that too is interesting and quite a substantial difference, spec differences? Warranty repair history?

2014MY, just gone through 16K; £566 for one year additional warranty., 10Kmiles, all component cover, £250 excess

Spec as per signature.

No warranty work other than the exhaust tip replacement.
Fixed Servicing- first oil change at about 8K, again at 13K and just had it done again [working abroad, car not used very often but choosing to stick with the annual oil change interval- I know...but it is my choice!].
Never ever pushed until oil is at +90DegC, and was run in enthusiastically for the first 500miles [as all good engines should be!]. Never used a drop of oil otherwise [possibly not much opportunity to notice though!]. Generally drive it gently, seldom in Manual and rarely, if ever, taken to the red line. [Please let's not have the debate again as to why then do I have an RS!]

Could Air Suspension be a factor given the DRC issues(?), or maybe because I have demonstrated that I am only actually doing around 5K miles per year the price is cheaper?

I was pleasantly surprised at it being well under £1K- given the factory order option to extended it was somewhere around £1800 for + 2years.
RS6 C7 (2014), Daytona Pearl, 21" Titanium, On Air, LEDs, Sports Exhaust, Dynamic Steering, Red Calipers, ACC, Top View, Connect, Tints, Rear Side Airbags, Rear heated seats; MP4S

My 4th year factory order option to extend was just over £500 and, from memory, £1300 for 5 years. And no excess, comprehensive component cover, recovery etc.

Warranty.png
From June 2014

Year 4 warranty was £885
Year 5 warranty was £2155

So if you can get it for £566 for year 4 after the fact then reasonable value, additions excepted.

Solved  my warranty is not up until January, so they gave me a higher quote as "I don't need it yet" :?
