They all have massive cancellation fees nowadays. With price comparison sites battling the prices down, they've got to get their money back somehow!

My snotter A4 was £300 last year with Privilege, 375 renewal, Comparethemeerkat gave Tesco cheapest at £258, result

Slightly higher excess and yes I noticed the fees to change or cancel! You pays your money....

I'm with Tesco and paid £585.

Funnily enough, it cost me £40 more to be 'parked on a drive' as opposed to 'parked on a street'! How the hell do you work that out??
Because when the car is on the drive the thief knows which house to break into, whereas if it's on the street it's not necessarily outside your house.
Why would they need to break into a house to steal a vehicle that a professional can boost in 2 minutes flat with a laptop?

Can also be even more expensive if parked in a garage. As above, the thieving scum know who owns the car but if garaged they 'may' have to break into the house/garage & thus a potentially larger claim with more dire circumstances.
Yes indeed. I enquired about the garage even though most 'standard' garages can't accommodate the width of the RS6. Apparently it is due to lots of claims whereby people have damaged their vehicle due to knocking 'something' on top of it like can of paint etc... This is what Tesco rep advised, not my advice!

Tesco came in at over £2500 through the comparison sites!
A lot of it depends of the area you live. If there are no claims involving RS6s in your postcode and surrounding areas, the premium will be lower. Part of the reason whereby you seldom keep the same insurer year after year.

Sure thing. Only asked the question as it looks like you know them.

I've just taken a policy out with Sainsbury's (collect my car in 2 weeks), £385 with 12 years NCD for a 95k car. I was amazed and had to call them to confirm, my RS4 was £440 last year.

+1 for NFU - £600 this year and no tracker required. Kept off road on driveway in Essex with point free licence and full 'protected' no claims discount, which is just as well as had a 15k claim two months ago after an object hit me whilst on the motorway at 70 mph ! I'd only been with them 3 weeks too but the claim was dealt with quickly and hassle free.

I'm with direct line £350, car parked on the drive
43, with 11 years protected no claims.
I put my brother in law on my insurance and for some reason that brought it to down slightly.
Was £260 for my rs4 b8 before that

So just had an interesting chat with Admiral. Went round the houses a bit however what the near double increase comes down to is;

The other half being insured on my car having had a non-fault fully recovered accident in May so they loaded my premium by £350
Hike in insurance premium tax

So with a bit of haggling, factoring in depreciation reduction on my car in the last 12 months and taking the other half off the policy it is within £40 of what I paid last year. Seemingly it doesn't matter whether you are at fault or not, the weighting is more or less the same for the next 5 years because since you've had one accident you are a higher risk to have another.

Up from £610 to £900.

Tried 3 comparison sites plus Tesco, Sainsburys, NFU, Direct Line. Quotes ranged from 900-3400!

3 points SP50, no claims. Locked garage, 6k miles per year, business use, voluntary excess of £500.
