So when ever you park your car, you switch off and you are safe 100% that nobody cant drive away with your car. Only possible solution is to drive it on tow truck.
I have it installed on my 2 cars and it is working flawlessly for years.
But your still looking at an insurance claim for the forced entry into car may as well just let them take it and be done with it.

All this extra security on the car itself is pointless - unless it has been highly modified where you can't recover all your investment back from the insurance company.

Beefing up security around the house is good but on the car itself can't see the point.

I think it all comes down to personal preference and the fact that some people care more about keeping their own cars than others.
There is an ex-owner on here who had people first scout his home looking at his car (he clocked them and scared them off) and then one day they surprise him at his work place with a gun to the back of his head and take car. It appears they had put a tracking device on the car hence turning up where he worked.

It's not like it's some appreciating classic - anyway I used to think this I don't anymore and I feel much more liberated as a result of it.

Car security /tracker

Agreed. It's an Audi. It's not mega rare, mega expensive or irreplaceable. Not worth risk to family or property.

These cars are stolen for crime by criminals. They aren't arsed about a bollard or a tracker. If they want/need, they will have.

Disagree completely. Of course they're bothered about a bollard or a tracker. As you said, it's an Audi not a brand spanking new Bugatti Chiron. Without physical protection around the car, it's an easy break-in and boost. Job done in a couple of minutes. By putting a bollard etc you have increased the workload and risk for the thief. This will put off the vast majority of them that don't have a plasma cutter in their boot as you say.

Of course if somebody wants something bad enough they will take it but these devices are about minimising risk/likelihood of your car being pinched. I'm not sure why you're struggling so hard to understand that? Do you think every car thief in the UK will go to the extent of using plasma cutters and pointing guns to peoples heads?? Yes, there's very little you can do with them people but the majority of thieves want a quick in and out and it is this group that you can deter by using these kind of devices.

See above, a case right here of exactly that.

I'm sorry, I disagree with you. I see bollard or similar as a mere delay. They'll jump you when you've unlocked it. Tracker will be removed or blocked.

Fuzz concur, by introducing blockers you're upping the game and increasing risk to yourself.

RS6 increasingly high risk.

That's my view, others are available.

In fact, if they drove up in a JCB, they could pull the bastard out. I'm pretty sure that a JCB would fit up my drive as well, dammit. I'd better dig a damn and erect a drawbridge and hire ex-SAS bodyguards just in case they get through that.
Lol. Or you could just hire Ard-bob!

To everyone who doesn't already know. It was me that had my RS6 stolen at gunpoint. Again for those that don't know. I had a disklok fitted, a bollard in front of it at home also had a wireless Pir sensor linked to my home alarm sat on the dash. I have CCTV covering all angles of my home and my 3 storey house is like Fort Knox. Work place was the weak point and that's where they got me on a dark December evening. A Piece of galvanised Audi metal was not worth the experience of near death.

Dreadful experience and if it happened to me I think i would be driving around in a Dacia by now, I hope you've moved on. I live near Brum and have a PE arriving in a couple of weeks, it will be garaged but I won't go too far with the security, they can have it. The only point I would make is that my fast family estate/saloon cars are always de badged, no private reg and generally low key in terms of colour/appearance. I'm not suggesting this is the ultimate deterrent for one minute, but the number of people who think my current RS4 is just an A4 makes me wonder if that's one reason why I've never had a problem, but maybe I've just been lucky. My new PE is de badged, a rather dull shade of grey, no private reg and as quiet as possible.

The other argument is that nobody's going to steal an Imola Yellow / Misano red RS4 / RS6 that's running a non res Milltek with decats to do a bank job!

Unfortunately I don't think there's one single 'right' answer

Reference security, I always look at it like this: Whenever I lock my bikes up, I always use two D locks. If there are 10/20/30 bikes in the rack that have one lock, and mine has two, Im minimising the chance of an opportunist taking mine. Stack the deck in your favour.

I fully agree with that, but in this instance someone has set out to steal a specific car, not just any car, in which case the one with a steering lock will be less likely to be targetted.

Very true. I imagine most of us keep quite a few small personal items at any one time, in the car as well, which may be difficult or time consuming to replace/replicate.

Mini Cooper S ("hot"Chili) 265BHP; VW Fox 59BHP; Citroen C1 68BHP!!

RS4 (B7) w. TTS S/C, C/Ceramics - sold

This is true but I have made a copy of my Kylie and Jason's greatest hits CD and keep it in the safe at home.

Your neighbours might be car numpties but the kids they pay to spot these cars kow the difference I'm afraid. But yes making it harder to spot can help.

Joking aside. The week the car was stolen we'd had a private scan of baby555 at 36 weeks. It was the last scan we had of her before she was born. I'd foolishly left the scan DVD in the glovebox and it's now gone for good. A bit sad tbf. So yea don't leave any irreplaceable stuff in your cars.

Thanks for all the input guys some interesting advice, have 2 autolock posts for the drive coming tommorow. And auto watch ghost being fitted also. Have 2 security cameras aimed at the car aswell, can't really don a lot more. But like most of you say if they wanted it that bad they will get it but hopefully that's enough to deter most thieves
