Audi Issues - What are they doing to fix it?

Post by lostprophet » Fri Jul 28, 2017 10:31 am

Hi All,

I have seen quite a few threads on alloys issues, hose bursting and squealing brakes. All expensive issues.

I was on the verge of committing to a RS6 a week ago but these issues made me back out.

Have audi taken responsibility for them? warranties dont cover alloys from what I can see? Does anyone have any ideas on how best to manage these isues. I dont fancy buying a 60-70k car and spend 1-1.5k per corner on alloys and brakes when they mess up.

cheers,
LP

Hi LP

Thought we had answered these concerns on Pistonheads.

Hose not an issue. Some cars had clips that sat next to a hose. Most don't. 10 second fix.

Squealing brakes - some do complain. No issue on mine. And hardly a serious issue.

Wheels are a problem. 21 inch combined with very low profile, 2 tonnes and UK roads is never a good combination irrespective of how strong the wheels are (or aren't). If it worries you save £1k and stick with the stronger, lighter forged 20s. No issues with these.

If that is all that is stopping you buying a RS6 then it's not the car for you. They are amazing.

I wanted to know if Audi cover alloys issue. I like the 21's!

Also the engine popping issue reported on here by a member seems odd. Is that linked to the hose?

I dont think you can classify a few cars reported on the forum with engines failing to be classed as a model specific issue.
Volvo XC90
C7 - RS6
C6 - RS6
B5 - RS4

No - not connected. Forget the hose.
These cars - and the engine in other applications - have proved very reliable. You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
If you like the 21s accept that you need to be careful, or go forged after market (not heard of any problems in those who have).
Just buy it and stop worrying ;)
You won't regret it.
