Faulty exhaust flap?

Post by Rs63855 » Mon Jul 17, 2017 11:43 am

The past week my flaps in the exhaust has stuck open. Have noticed it's only on 1 side though.

So in comfort both flaps should close, (but only 1 does) then when switch to dynamic the flaps should open

I had a look under the car and connections all seem ok. The side that doesn't open definitely has power going to it as when turn engine off the flap makes a Bleeping sound and looks like the flap attempts to move

If switching from comfort to dynamic it doesn't attemp to move though

Not sure if it's kinda stuck mechanically or it's a fuse? Anyone no where the fuses are for the flaps? Or any ideas?

Thanks guys

If it has power going to it then it isn't the fuse. Blown fuse would mean no power surely?
And I would be surprised if there was a separate fuse for the left and right as they down draw that much current. Probably shared with a load of other stuff too. Sounds to me like it's a faulty valve on the exhaust.

Ye true! Must be the valve. Don't think just the valve can be replaced?

Or disconnect the other one and enjoy the lovely sound all the time.

It's sorted!

Didn't really do anything just messed about with it. Gave up and left it. Just went to pick kids up and it was fine!

Glad it sorted itself out :).
I actually had a simular thing i guess. When i installed my milltek, one valve was closed and kept close (no errors), so i figuered i just unbolted the mechanic actuator and see what the future brought. Half year later i looked at it back, opened up and make sure the pins lined up. Too my suprise, he worked again perfectly :).
Anyway ;).
