the jump from C6 to C7 is something i couldnt justify. It just isnt twice the car. looking at a C7 S6 loon they are bargins, 40k for a new car, cheeky remap and turbos and your at rs6 power....... however the v8s keep breaking lol!

GTR will feel cheap and nasty inside compared to the C7, and the tech will feel old too. GTRs are great cars but not on the same level of refinement as the RS6. Id be looking at a 911 997 gen 2 turbo if it was me. just as fast as the 6, good build quality and a very low depreciation curve. 997 turbo S are on the rise so you might see positive depreciation if you buy the right spec :)

+1.
The person who bought my C6 previously had a GTR 700bhp.
Said they were <beep>. And cost a bomb to run plus boring as anything.
C6 was far superior in every way, inside and out.

Get another C6
OP wants a cheaper car - you won't get into a decent gen2 PDK turbo for less than he has in the audi.
I agree though - a potential decent buy and something I am looking at.

Whoever said the GTR is <beep> is looking to be controversial 😜
Far from <beep> and in terms of refinement apart from HUD and pano roof the small bits of expected spec are there - camera, auto lights/ wipers etc
Decent seats in recaro spec
Yes in parts a little bit more plastic looking but also some nice leather work on the dash etc
When I moved into the C7 I was not blown away by the refinement in any way, I prefer merc interiors tbh and BMW are worst of all.

GTR are perfectly capable as a cruiser and every day option.
Brakes / tyres are similar cost to C7, economy is similar (smaller tank though) servicing is more frequent but a good independent are cost effective.
Few horror stories on bent rods and gearbox issues on tuned cars but that's the same in any performance car as we've seen on here.

And for a low mileage 10/11 plate the prices are quite settled.

Tough choice ahead 😀

If I sell mine - it's a 977 turbo (again - even in 997 model a pretty poor interior..996 v dated now)

Trouble is VW and Golfs in general really seem to attract idiots. Bit like the 'rice rockets' of Scoobys and Imprezzas driven by chav mongs.

It's all relative but I pay nearly that much a month for tv. Hand it back at the end, everyone's a winner . Don't know what I'll do with my c63 tho ( probably keep it )

I'm hoping that both can share the origins of these deals with me as I would like to explore them further

Ok so on Friday I took this cheeky little number out for a test drive:
Image

2011 model facelift Black Edition with a Litchfield 4.25 (may have been 4.5 not sure) tune so around 660 bhp. Great paint job (not a wrap) and looked excellent. Also had the upgraded 'Alcon' brakes which worked a treat-and it needed them.
Far and away the quickest car I've ever driven. 0-60 in 2.5 and over 200 mph. EPIC performance...just insane. The cornering was out of this world and felt like it was on rails. No understeer/oversteer just flat cornering under power. Get on the gas and the engine noise whines and then shrieks. Literally left everything for dead on the road-nothing could touch it.
So-good replacement for the C7?
Good bits: power, handling, steering feel, brakes, comfy seats, harsh ride but not too harsh, boot larger than I thought, knowledge that you are driving the baddest, Ferrari devouring weapon for less than £50k Image
Bad bits: old tech...the nav and switch gear seemed from an age ago and comically <beep> frankly! No stop/go so we're back in C6-stuck in traffic with exhausts burbling watching fuel run out going nowhere-territory. Rear seats? Maybe if you have a baby or a double amputee, seriously there is NO leg room with seats pushed back. Felt 'tinny' /the door handles felt like they could snap. Image-car would attract attention from all the mongs plus the old bill would ping you straight away. Not an 'under the radar' car by any stretch of the imagination and I always liked my 'Q Cars'
Going back home it was horrendous traffic...sat there in comfort with the pano roof open and ACC driving the car-something that's a non starter in the GT-R.
As a weapon for scaring Bugatti's (it's that quick) and smashing B roads in a frenzy then all day long this is the car. Everyday car to fit as many boxes as possible? Not really. Still impressed with it and not totally ruled out though.

GTR was released in December 2007 so is 10yrs old now.

I personally don't see the appeal in going back to a car of that age and era, the same way I no longer find 997 Turbo's appealing when the new 991's are head and shoulders above. Times have moved on, GTR's just like Evo's and Scooby's are in the past. The new GTR will be a hybrid of some sorts and probably in the 6 figure regions, a far cry away from the initial £50k market the GTR was originally aimed at.

Nissan have always overestimated their performance figures too, independent tests have never got anywhere their 0-60 and Nurburgring claims. It had its place as a supercar killer 10yrs ago but nowadays, nope, the big boys are off like a shot in comparison.

Just for reference, I recorded a 10.7 on the same day a Stage 4 car recorded a 10.8 at the dragstrip, 730hp in an RS6 easily matched the 640hp in the GTR.

I can vouch for this - quickest stage 4.25 car I know is 10.7
Tbh mine only did a 10.7 at 850hp but crossed the line 12 mph faster.
Crap tyres and bad launches. In reality a 9.9x car if anyone with any talent was driving it! Lol

It's a different animal.
Adults in the back is just painful for everyone!
Boot is big so great as a tourer - but it's no estate!

You will get loads of attention - all good tbh lots of fanboys and girls
Mine was proper chavved up and it was ridiculous at times.
