Torque steer

Post by tartan_rob » Tue May 30, 2017 2:22 pm

So I have completed my first decent run, circa 840 miles and I noticed torque steer under heavy 2nd gear acceleration. Anything to worry about?

I don't like it but its about all I don't like about it....

I used to get quite a lot of torque steer with my old 2014 pre-facelift car. This PE I have now seems a lot better. In the past people have suggested the make of tires has a lot to do with it.

I feel the car correcting itself a lot but doesn't seem to require actual manipulation of steering, or hardly any at all, to maintain straight line. RS4 is much better but it tramlines like hell! RS6 doesn't seem to tramline so much thank goodness!

FYI

Old thread about it here viewtopic.php?f=76&t=115758&hilit=torque+steer

My PE has Pirelli P-Zeros, I think my old car had Dunlops.

Complained about the same to local Dealer and they carried out the geometric wheel alignment which corrected the problem by about 95%

Thanks guys. The car has new Continental tyres but I'll ask them about a 4wheel alignment

For me, the same as Scotty, although not at the dealer! Full geometry and pressure check (!) sorted it for me. It's bad again now after a couple of late crater pot holes so it's off again.
