Dash Cam (Battery Pack)

Post by Schoolfit » Sat Apr 15, 2017 10:12 am

Hello Gents, I hope we are all doing well!

So, managed to hard wire my blackvue 650S 2-CH in line with the power magic pro. But, I do not get anywhere near enough recording time after the ignition is off as the 12V cut off protection hits in pretty fast. So, on the Facebook RS6 page, one guy mentioned the battery power pro (battery pack). Looks great, as does the price!

However, my question is, do any of you have this and did you manage to hard wire it? I could figure it out myself after probably some considerable time but would appreciate some time saving saviour to be able to help me out!! I don't want the 12V socket connection and therefor cables running about the cockpit.

Thanks!

I've got a similar unit with the magic pro. I used to run mine for 12 hours fine. They use hardly any power.

I have it on 12V cut off and 6 hours cut off. All the switches in the up position, as shown in the instructions I got with it.

I've noticed the website has the second switch down for 12V but my instructions say for both switches to be up for 12V. I'll change it and see. I think I even saw one of the instructions online saying 11.8V

So changed the settings to what an online manual says where one switch down for 11.8V cut off and dash cam works fine now!

Thanks for all the input, appreciated.

Which fuses did you use for the hard wiring? I keep causing faults on the ones I piggyback (I am assuming it throws the current off or something).

I'll have a look and take some photos. Basically the first set are switchable and the middle set always live, or other way round as can't quite recall off top of my head.

Cheers, appreciate it. I managed to create an error in the matrix lights control unit by piggybacking its fuse. Car refused to even start with that error!

I had mine hardwired professionally the magic pro regulates the battery usage and when the unit starts to drain down the car battery the camera switches off. you need to adjust your recoding time and intervals this will have a big influence on battery usage and recording time. I also have an external battery pack for the blackvue, t-power but never got round to fitting it gives around 15hrs of continued usage - and when the camera switches to the car battery the t-power gets charged......
