Another one bites the dust

Post by Aresix » Sun Apr 09, 2017 6:27 pm

Hi guys.
Been following this forum for a couple of years now without joining but have had ownership of a FL C7 for about 16 months now. Unfortunately that came to an abrupt end last night...

Parked up outside my house around 10pm and was about to go into the house to disable the alarm before I could open the garage. Was suddenly disturbed by a black male behind me who was masked up demanding my keys. Given the recent spate of violent carjacking I didn't resist and handed them over. Then he turned for a second and came back to ask for my phone. Again I gave this to him.

Surprisingly they struggled to first get into the car and second to start it. To the extent he came for me again to help him! Luckily I was out the porch by now and managed to run to safety over my front wall.

We managed to get them on camera and police reckon it was an opportunistic Jacking likely after following me for a short while.

I used to be uber careful when I first got the car always looking to see who was behind me but over time I became a bit blasé.

Don't know what'll happen now but not expecting it back.

No tracker- I've always felt if it's gone it's gone.

This was not many miles away from where Eddie had his horrific experience I may add.

Be careful guys!!

Thanks mate

Only knew he was there when he was right behind me:
I didn't see a weapon but I'm sure he would have been tooled up to some extent. With the missus due to park up behind me a minute later I just wanted them goneD

As they drove off she literally turned in wondering why I'm driving like a loon.

Wow. Glad you're ok. Glad you did the same as me. It's a car as we all know and I'm sure ,like me ,you'll have a new one before you know it. All you can think about is "what if?" for a while but don't worry mate time passes and you'll heal ok.
Where are abouts are you? Post a pic up of your car and I'm sure we'll all keep our eyes open.

Oh and FON.

They will do anything now. We make our cars secure so they start breaking into our houses. We make the houses more secure and the jump us on our driveways! Or even just while driving like in that video I posted about earlier.

Nightmare. But you did the right thing. What part of the world are you? I also had a strange event that I posted on here a while back but I avoided anything like this.

I'll try and put a pic on soon.
Basically Daytona grey with gloss black pack and black 21s.

I'm in Solihull . Remember stressing about getting the car after reading eddies posts around the same time as I was due delivery !

Definately right. Only a car which can be replaced.

Hope the next owner enjoys it as much I did ...

Yep, because everyone drives around with a mask in their car, just in case, don't they?! You don't steal an RS6 by accident, this comment from the police surprises me :bash:

Glad you and the missus are okay

Very very strange the guy came back and took your phone, probably only to prevent you taking photos / videos, given that the police / network provider can trace the sim movement very accurately nowadays. If the trace stops a short distance from your house, they probably threw it out the window, if so definitely worth trying to find it, knocking on a few neighbours doors, the glass screen would be a great surface to capture a finger print.

Sorry it wasn't a mask it was a scarf.
I assume this is what they do.. looking for a half reasonable motor and see if they can get it. Doesn't sound they've driven an Audi before unless they're newbies to the game.

I'm assuming he didn't want me to make the call. The phone was found by the police 3 miles away but so far no trace of the car. Apparently they immediately had 2-3 cars on the prowl for it.

This was no coincidence. Half the RS6s pinched in the UK are in the midlands! And unless they are nicking it to hide away and do a jewelers / bank job etc, don't forget the person 'placing the order' isn't normally the same person 'employed' to 'collect' the car. And the 'personal shopper' isn't likely to be an Oxbridge graduate...

Eddie wrote about this after his went walkies. Gangs in the midlands competing to see who can take the most and best cars. The bosses placing orders are their minions going out to do their dirty work.

There are too many threads on here about CCTV, house alarms, upgraded car alarms, the Clifford car jack system, anti-shatter window film, trackers, and the completely hopeless trackers Audi fit, endless RS Audis being nicked in the midlands, police warning RS (+ S) owners in the Midlands about car thefts, police even stopping RS (+S) to see if they are being driven by the actual owner / are on duplicate plates etc etc

Unfortunately just the sad sad state of the sorry country we now live in

I am starting to wonder if I go ahead and buy a RS6 now ! i know these instances are fairly rare but i am having second thoughts now. Time to read up on security systems.
