RS6 Virtual Cockpit

Post by mat776 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 11:05 pm

Is MY18 about to add virtual cockpit to RS6 ?

Just noticed this in the new RS6 brochure

"Personalise your Audi RS 6 with a range of optional equipment choices. Some options have been packaged together for added convenience whilst others are available individually. From a Technology Pack featuring Audi Virtual Cockpit to exterior options like the Carbon Styling Package, you can arrive at your ideal combination of Audi technology."

I'd be very surprised if they introduced it this late into the model life. I bet it's a cut and paste error.

Do you know what I wouldn't want it on the RS6. I have owned, recently sold, an R8 V10 plus with the VC, and one thing I loved about getting back in the RS6 was getting back to those lovely big dials, and the middle bit for info /sat nav etc works really well. The VC needs more work imho, its glary at night, doesn't dim enough and graphics aren't that great, its awkward & fiddly movning around screens/views etc ...think smart watch for the VC whereas the RS6 dials are very much a swiss masterpiece

Agreed. I really didn't like it in the R8. The panamera has it about right I think with the rev counter still being analogue with the virtual bits either side.

I wouldn't want it either - agree it needs more work. Although I would like to be able to set the between the dials map to "overview' so I can make a decision on whether a nav re-route is sensible, rather than have to follow it blindly.

I think Mikes right - copy/paste error (wouldn't be an Audi 1st!) - the equivalent column in the RS7 brochure makes no mention of it.

We test drove a Q7 with the VC and neither my wife or I liked it. I had trouble refocusing on it. The RS6 has it just right I think.

I absolutely love it my SQ7, makes the pop-up screen pretty redundant.

I agree, the VC is a thing of beauty & a great feature on the Audi's. Liked it in the Q7 & loved it in the R8 V10+.

Was delighted to learn that RR have now followed suit on the MY17 cars so have their variant on my car.

Agreed, combination of both is perfect!
