Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
That's my point with people walking away from test drives thinking the RS6 is too quiet. In the right mode and when driven with gutso the exhaust has way more character and volume than trundingly around in Drive.superlightr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 8:07 pmI didn't even realise you could move the selector in S mode I was happily driving for months in the D doh needless to say when its now in dynamic or Individual and S its a wild thing.

It does, but driving in Sport means you get the daft overruns which get irksome after a while.
Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
Disconnect the valves and get rid of the resonators. Prefect.
Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
Collected it and am exceedingly happy so far. What a difference from the RS4! The way is accelerates at any revs / speed is amazing!
Taking it easy fora while but here are a couple of pics.
Forgive the temporary paint protection film on the front, its just there to protect it until it goes in on the 10th April for the front end to be done properly.
Once that's done and its been detailed Ill get a few more pics in a better light taken.
One quick question.....its on Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tyres....any views? Thought Pirellis were pretty much stock for Audi

Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
Congrats. I have Dunlops on mine. There are 3 factory options (not that you get to choose); Dunlop, Pirelli or Continental.
Pirelli probably the worst of that bunch but I'll be switching to Michelins when the time comes. The new contis look good but they are not available in 285 30 21 (closest is 295 30 21 but I already have clearance issues with 285s).

Thanks Mike - good to know.
Couple more pics in 'slightly' better light (ie dull, but slightly less dull!)

I always think Ascari as being much lighter. I think I get it confused with a light blue colour I keep seeing on social media.
Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
It seems (so far) to be very 'sun' dependent.
Sometimes seems quite dark, but under bright sunlight the metallic then pops out. Looks almost flat in a Nardo type of way when its dull, then also can look a bit like Nogaro under very bright sun.
Quite pleased with the color as the dealer was trying to suggest Sepang to me, but I wanted something a bit more subtle and there seems to be a fair bit of Sepang across the Audi range.
Certainly different! Now deciding if I put some Carbon mirrors on it from Ray Well Design

Re: Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?
Great news and I am sure you will love the car, in regard to running in just take it easy and let the car warm up but as the engines are tested and broken in using running in oil at the factory, there is no real reason to restrict it's performance use once the oil is warm and the rev limiter has been removed by the car itself. We have 3 from new and all have been driven as they should from day one.
With regard to the tracker there are 11 Thatcham approved places to fit on an A6 C7 and even insurance approved aftermarket trackers have to use one of these, quite frankly thieves can get this information as well so the choice is yours on the Audi or aftermarket system. If you need it as an insurance requirement then you will take this risk. If you don't or in addition to then I recommend a Can Bus defender to shut the car's can system down that will disable nearly everything and can be hidden nearly anywhere you want in the car. This system can only be disabled by using a series of switch movements that you choose yourself after install. With this none of the cars systems talk to each other and even the dash is dead without the code input within a pre-set time period.
I would for ultimate security recommend an OBD defender system as well, not the crude lock over the socket type but the type that interrupts the signal and only you can enable it again via remote control or again a multiple switch press.
PM me if you need any advice on security as I do not want to put any information on a public forum.
Thanks Stuart SWA
