Don't think charging the B8 has ever worked. I think there was an APR one in the states, but the PES system they were trying when the car first came out just doesn't work. Not sure exactly what bit doesn't want to play, but don't think anyone on here has a charged B8.

Well I moved from a c6 rs6 to a b8 rs4 and am loving it. Far sportier, much more direct and just a lot of fun!

Oh and I think a supercharger on this for a bit more torque would be fantastic! But rev'ing the nuts off it seems to work petty well too...

I wanted to get a B8 RS4 and then read the reviews and decided not bother trying!

Also, i know it sounds silly but the power/torque just isn't enough to cut it these days. Cruising on a motorway i imagine a 3.0TDI would feel quite a bit quicker than an RS4. My old man has a new 911 Cab and it has the same issue, it it feels like it's powered by a hamster compared to the RS6!

New 991 as in 3.0T? I had a C4S for a weekend, it's easily RS6 quick and, as a bonus it goes around corners at speeds the RS6 could only dream of. Not really comparable in that respect, but it definitely ain't slow.

991 C4S (395bhp) - 0-100mph in 9.4secs / 0-402m in 12.2 @ 117mph
RS6 C7 (552bhp) 0-100mph in 7.7secs / 0-402m in 11.6 @ 122mph

RS6 would be around about 2 artic lorry length ahead after only a 1/4 of a mile so not even remotely close I'm afraid. After the 1/4m, the RS6 would pull away at an alarming rate, 550hp vs 395hp is going to show itself.

Source of info - fastest laps website which lists the best recorded times for the cars independently tested in the media. .

Track wise though -

Hockenheim Short :-

RS6 - 1:13.7
C4S - 1.11.1

Exactly, it's not all about fecking quarter miles!

Those times must be 991.1. 991.2 different prospect. I've driven both.....

Clearly if you want to compare a car with similar power output, 991TTS is the place to go. And that's a one horse race!

Yeah 991.2 has an extra 20hp so will chop a tenth or two off those times. Regardless, the RS6 would still anihalate one in a race. It's simply not RS6 quick as you incorrectly stated.

991 Turbo S, yep agreed a one horse race, but it's £145k vs £80k at the end of the day. To compare apples with apples put it against the new R8 v10+ and the Audi will be out accelerating Porsches finest ;)

Apologies, I'm quite pernickety with stats and I about fell out my chair when I read your comment that the C4S was RS6 quick. My inlaws have one albeit the 395hp car not the facelifted 415hp, it punches hard off the line but then starts to run out of steam 60 upwards, on a par with the new RS3 I would say.

Don't rely on stats. Go try one. It's quicker around any bend you chose, got any stats for that?!!

It's now sub 4s to 60 and has proper launch.

In the real world who's doing 0-150?

TTS is still quicker than new R8, easily so. I've driven both of those as well. I've ordered the former.

I don't disagree with you, the C4S will corner and lap quicker than the RS6, no doubts about it. The RS6 was never designed to be quick in the corners though ;)

The new R8 V10+ is an animal with independent tests getting as low as 2.5 0-60.

Again check out the stats for the 991.1 / 991.2 and the new R8 V10+

R8 V10+ out accelerates the new 991.2 Turbo S in every element, not by much but it's the quicker car.

0-60 in 2.5s in R8 V10+
0-60 in 2.6 in 991.2 Turbo S

0-100 in 5.9secs in R8 V10+
0-100 in 6.1secs in 991.2 Turbo S

0-150 in 15.1 in R8 V10+
0-150 in 15.5 in 991.2 Turbo S

0-186mph (300kmh) in 28.8 in R8 V10+
0-186mph (300kmh) in 29.5 in 991.2 Turbo S

991.2 Turbo S does have a higher top speed, 207mph vs 205mph.

The R8 V10+ is pretty much identical to the Lamborghini Huracan which mirrors the R8 V10 all the way through.

Of course, these are just straight line acceleration stats but I'd put my money on the R8 being quicker than the 991 Turbo S around the track too.

It's lost it's crown I'm afraid, the new R8 is an absolute gem and nothing like the Mk1 cars. Both come in at the same price point, if I were in a position to buy either or, I'm really not sure where my money would go.

I've not seen anything like those stats for the R8. And having driven both in the real world I'd take the 991 every time. Guys at PEC have had 991 to 60 in under 2.5, but then they have a nice piece of rubbered Tarmac.

Residual is stronger on 911, if such things matter.

Stats are whatever you want to make them, that's a very one dimensioned view.

New R8 is ugly, and unfortunately comes with standard Audi service. Audi has lost its mojo IMO. Just look at the vast array of cars they were pushing at Goodwood. Some good cars, but also some tat. Q2 anyone.

Porsche's top dog is 918....and new mid engine car to sit above 911 coming soon. 911 has hit its limits.
