Stone Chips

Post by Misanoredrs4 » Wed Mar 30, 2016 11:50 am

Inevitably (and I am sure it wont be the last) I have had a nick of paint taken off the front bumper revealing the lovely white primer underneath. Does anyone have any experience of any decent remedies for this beyond spraying the whole thing.

Thanks

another daft question but where can I easily find the paint code on the car? - seems Riviera Blue is a little harder to source!

Get a paint protection film fitted to the front to stop you worrying about it. No more Stone chips.

Fewer stone chips, still doesn't prevent argument with flying Boulder or surprise kerb.

We have the 3M plastic coating on the Morgan Aero as the front end is near upright and it was done a wonderful job. Cannot recommend it enough.

Porsche's Riviera Blue paint code is 39E. Should be the same.

39E is current and different to the original mid 90's 911 code.

You will probably have noticed that on the label inside the boot the colour code is missing like mine, think this might be common for exclusive colours. I got mine from http://www.paints4u.com/ and just chose the Porsche Riviera Blue, perfect match.

Thanks to you all in the C7 community for the info. Mike, Bit and Doodle is it hard to find someone to apply the film? does it detract from the look of the car at all?

Cheers

For me it was quite easy. The car was being detailed and the detailer shares a unit with a guy that does the paint protection film so I had it done whilst being detailed therefore no hassle at all, same pick up day.
I imagine most detailers have a guy they use / recommend now.

It is really hard to see my film as the car is dark and the film finishes right at the edge. I can't normally see it all. Only when trying to see the edges will I actually notice it. And even the strip I had on the back bumper (which doesn't go right up to the edge) is hard to see the edge as its so dark.
I haven't really seen it on a really sunny day yet when totally clean to judge if there is any loss of gloss, but I had the shinier suntek used on the bonnet.

I had the front bumper including Grille surround and vents, whole front bonnet, whole front wings, wing mirrors and headlights. I also had a little strip across the top of the rear bumper.

If you look closely you can see the line on the wing where the film is. Generally you can't notice it at all unless you're really looking for it. :)

Do it.
