Winter car!!

Post by Zeebuilder » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:57 pm

So who out there hibernates the C7 and opts for a winter car! Not me as don't see the point but on a few other forums talk is rife and I can't understand why you would pay so much for a car and only use in good weather.

Not the first time I've seen the winter car discussion.

This as has been mentioned in many a motoring magazine, must be close to the ultimate winter car.

Give it a good wax and the bodywork will be fine.

Using a 205 in the road salt is just criminal! Especially one that nice! Mine is tucked in the garage with a brimmed tank to stop condensation (rust) on the fuel filler pipe / tank

Geordie, winter tyres make a huge difference, agree mechanical grip is good, but two tonnes of German technology still relies on that contact. Quattro plus winter rubber is simply amazing.

I for one will of course drive the RS6 in the winter time as well (I have 20" winter tires on; summer tires run on 21"), but for really poor road conditions (i.e. huge amounts of snow or black ice) when the risk of damages by other drivers are extraordinary, I have just gotten a Golf R -- kind of the RS6's baby brother (half the engine, almost half the size and almost as much fun... :-)
#26 - 2016 Golf R (APR S1+ LT 370 hp / 490 Nm)
#25 - 2014 RS6 Avant (APR S1 680 hp / 950 Nm)
#24 - 2007 S6 Avant (Sold)
#23 - 2005 M3 Coupé SMG2 (Sold)
#22 - 2008 RS4 Avant (Sold)
#21 - 2007 S4 Avant (Sold)
#20 - 2004 996 4S Coupé (Sold)
All black/black fully loaded :-)
