Motorharu,

I believe your disc's will still be fine. I had a 997.2 GT3 from new and after 7,000 miles, much of which was track use the discs both changed colour and had very small cracks. Porsche did a report for the guy who bought the car from me and they stated that the discs where well within normal usage levels and that the smalls cracks were expected.

*Edit, the Porsche ceramics also became "grainy" similar to your second picture.

Hope this helps.

I think the OP means the caliper has changed colour, looks like it's turned a bronze colour.

Ceramic pads changed color!!!

Thx for the info Lewy, actually I'm not worried about the wear on the disks, as you have said they should be fine.
But the color change what worries me, if audi says that its "normal" to change color, which shouldn't be, otherwise harmless to brakes, i may consider getting the rears painted too, at first glance it does not match to estoril, but i kinda think it looks cool too..

Looks like a yellowing of the calliper paint. I certainly wouldn't accept that as normal.

This is normal, a lot of R8's have the same problems. Your discs are fine, you only heat them pretty high at some point. They were glowing

Kind Regards

For future reference; after a bit of mailing to and from audi gmbh and taking various pictures, they have changed the brakes under warranty.

I do not know if owning 4 RS cars since the last 6 years, (b7, 2xc6 and c7) and bringing them to service regularly even if total mileage between services was 2k, made a difference, but here is the result..

Cheers and a happy new year..
