New F90 M5 Ordered & then Cancelled!!

I tried to resist, but the draw was too great.

Should point out that without confirmation of the commercials & a confirmed delivery slot, my order is somewhat speculative & can be cancelled along with a refund of my deposit. More should be known when the BMW Order system opens on the 8th September as that will confirm my build slot & it's expected BMW will release any financial incentives for Q4 deals with Q1 deliveries.

Having now got the official specs & price list, the car looks to be an absolute Monster & would replace my current A8 Black Edition (albeit that would be going back to Audi early).

Having had my F10 M5 for over 3years, it rekindled my appreciation of BMW's M products after my not so enjoyable relationship with the E60 M5. I was also trying my best to be a stalwart & didn't initially appreciate the idea of the new M5 being AWD, but common sense has kicked in & i can only accept that with such levels of power & performance, RWD really isn't quite going to cut it in the UK for a daily driver.

Fingers crossed the numbers stack up & i can look forward to the car arriving around March next year.

Hmmm, from DCT to slushbox, what's the point, it's just dulling the experience and making for a softer car... just like every other luxoexocet barge... but 3.4sec nought to sixty sprint is impressive. It still has a 2WD mode but that sounds like a true ditch-finder option, no TC! It seems weird that they couldn't make a 2WD 'making progress without killing yourself' mode.

They did (to a degree) Three options to the drivetrain, that being AWD Sport, AWD Sport+ & RWD. Now i don't know the exact details as still not available, but AWD Sport as you'd expect is likely no different to any AWD system where the puters do the maths & decide where best to deploy the power/drive etc, however will be a limit to the f/r split. AWD Sport+ enhances this to offer a far greater RWD bias (videos showing lots of tail out action in Sport+) & i'd assume MDM is available which is a greater reduced but not off state for the TC systems.

As for the transmission, it's hard to fathom why they've moved away from DCT, however the C7 RS6 & F Type R among many other performance cars have the ZF8 box & it doesn't hamper those cars in the slightest. In fact, many who've driven both transmissions say it's hard to notice any difference on the road or track in ability & speed of change.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of that.

Noticed in your Sig that the S7's a Black Edition? I bet that will look good against Sepang? Didn't realise Audi were doing Black Editions for the S's. Took delivery of a new A8 Black Edition a few weeks ago, sadly it's only the 3.0TDi though.

Gonna be a long wait to March next year, but looking forward to my appetite being whetted in the lead up.

Either Marina Bay Blue or Snapper Rocks Blue with Silverstone Leather.

Got until Nov/Dec to decide on the final spec etc.

The forthcoming C8 will have to be very special indeed to topple this new M5.

congrats buddy I was tempted as well but going to wait for them to come on the second hand market, I sold my RS6 and pick up a RS6 PE tomorrow. I would have loved the new m5 but couldn't afford them as I don't like to do finance so I'll have to wait. Congrats on it I cannot wait to see it!

Cheers, i'm certainly excited.

BMW have 2 promotion M5's in the UK now, a Grey one & a Blue one. Both doing tours of larger dealer groups soon & Top gear had the Blue one last week for a video shoot, although they were not allowed to start the car so i guess to was a pre production model. Also one being shown at PHSS this coming Sunday.

I believe the 'official' launch will be next week at the Frankfurt motor show.
