Anyone ever considered emigrating?

Post by Soupie69uk » Mon Apr 07, 2008 2:35 pm

I am just coming up to finish my time at uni and lots of my friends are either getting a job (hopefully) like me or boing the OZ and NZ thing. I will be getting a job though as I bought a flat when at uni.

I have been thinking more and more recently about possibly emigrating. The places I have thought of are either Canada, OZ or NZ really. I think NZ seems my first choice really.

I just seem to think this country is on a bit of a downward spiral. Schools are not as good as what they one were and would have to pay for a decent education now. Houses are so expensive here and you seem to get more for your money over there.

The tax is getting pretty bad here now and you dont really seem to see where any of it goes.

Also when out or what now I definately dont feel as safe as I probably should.

Plus with all the people now moving into the UK I can only see this place getting worse.

What are your guys thoughts or anyone had any experience of this?

This country is fucked mate - if you're young and you've got the chance get out while you can. NZ is the place.

I'd be off like a shot to NZ. I have a client who moved out there 3 or 4 years ago and he has been followed by at least one other friend of his that I know of.

Last one out - please turn off the lights.

But within a few years they'll all be pi**ed off too and will have gone home cos none of us will be left to pay their social security.

A friend of mine went travelling for 6 months, 6+ years later he's still not back and has no plans to return.

Trained as a SCUBA diving instructor in Thailand, spent a few years there, then more recently Egypt and Borneo. Lucky sod.

5 year plan is to migrate. I come from Zimbabwe originally and miss the lifestyle. OZ or NZ be great... if you have the chance, travel, see the world, find somewhere you feel comfortable.

Anyone ever considered emigrating?
Not many weeks go by when I don't

NZ - never been, but heard good reports
Canada - superb place, but too cold for my liking for most of the year
Aus - yes, would seriously consider it
USA - yes, EVEN the States

These are the obvious, English speaking (well sort of), places that most Brits consider, but there's plenty more, especially if you're flexible and adventurous...

Yeah were you there when was known as Rhodesia?

I have spoken to a few people who used to live there and had farms and were then forced out. I can not believe our government did not help these people instead of going into afghanistan, as lots of them were british.

And now they are saying on the news we are going to have to spend billions to help put it back right when could have just done it years ago and probably saved some money.

Zim eh ? What a fab country, lifestyle, people ( except a certain chap called Bob!!) Nearly went there in the 90's to go into safety foot wear business. Pulled out at the last minute fortunatley would defo give Africa a go again in general appeals to me and Ill be off in a shot as soon as the cash is sorted. Failing that southern Europe still spot for my Golf and liking of the Sun.

This country not only makes me depressed but bloody angry. We have no identity any more. We are crap at Football and are best cricket player is South African. Its over crowded and everyone wants a piece of you and your hard earned cash. ( probably venting cos I had a run with one o those little hitler traffic wardens last week!! ) Its badly run and generally a Sh**T hole and Im fed up with the car owner being the easy target for that tosser in Downing street to pay for everything else. Not to mention its Aprril and f***ing snowing !!

So me and the RS are off as soon as my numbers come up!!

So do it dude especially while your young.

Good luck
