Brazil Cycling Challenge 2004

Post by wazza » Mon Mar 22, 2004 7:36 pm

Hi All,

I challenged myself last October to get properly fit and healthy once again. I have my weight loss targets set for the end of March and May and they are going to plan very nicely. I'm nearly three and a half stone down now!
In the last month I have thought that I must do something that I would never have done otherwise to make all the hard work worthwhile. I looked into a sponsored cycle ride for a cancer charity as my father has just recently been given the all clear from cancer after having treatment last year.

The Macmillan Brazil Challenge has grabbed my attention and is a very deserving cause. Nothing like aiming high is there?
It is a 700km bike ride following the Iguaçu River, through rolling ranchland, Indian reservation lands and forests, taking some dirt roads through Brazilian back-country and finishing at the sea.
It is going to be a very tough trip and I have a lot of hard work to do both in training and in collecting sponsorship.

I would be very grateful if you could sponsor me in this task 8)

To sponsor me online, simply go to the following page http://www.justgiving.com/cyclebrazil and click “sponsor me now”.

Alternatively, you can find my page on http://www.justgiving.com. Simply click on the "sponsor a friend" tab and search for Paul Wyatt by name.

Whilst I am over in Brazil this October, I'll be meeting up with our Bro's and having a blast up the road . Many reports will follow :D.

I did John O'Groats to Lands End in September 01 - that was 880 mles in 7 days so pretty grueling stuff.

If you need any carbo loading drink additives give me a shout.

Good luck and congrats on the weight loss

Just a quick thank you note to someone on this forum. You know who you are. :bigwave:
Your donation is gratefully accepted. I'm still choked each time I read your letter. Thank you very, very much. :notworthy: :beerchug:

You will all hear how I'm getting along with the training etc.

Jeff - It's all just healthy eating and plenty of exercise, built into my normal daily routine. No Atkins/Weight Watchers rubbish 8). If you want more specifics, let me know.

Great stuff. I keep on meaning to do something like this but you know what they say about the road to hell. So you have my respect for actually standing up to be counted. Good luck with everything.

Hi All.

Training is going well, I'm now five and a helf stone down
The whole biking thing has taken me over - I'm covering the whole country in the next two months, including a trip this weekend to Stoke to enter the Sleepless in the Saddle event which is a 24hr off-road race.
Yes that's right, forest tracks at night. so I needed a new lighting system. Step forth the Lupine Edison - bi-xenons like on the RS6
Image
I have a comparison running with my old light here 8)
After this weekend the only thing I have to worry about in Brazil will be the Bro's driving........

Yep. Three weeks and five days before I get to Image in the sun.
I know the knee is now fixed, as last weekend I did a 28 mile race around Holmfirth in the Pennines including the slog up Holme Moss
Next weekend is a 12hr overnight race in Thetford (D2D)

Keep that money rolling in. Cheers DaveImage
