A friend of mine's been touring NZ for a few weeks and stumbled across this little add in a local Time-Out.
Guy, do you know KK Malaysian Cafe ?
Does "dirty protest" mean the same there as it does here?
Not a glowing recommendation is it.

Decked out like dirty protest!! That sounds like a <beep> place to eat, don't know about the roti, sounds more like rotten

Yes, if you want to be accurate... however it usually just means any prisoner rubbing their sh1t all over their cell walls.
I'd still have to check that cafe out just to see how accurate the description is.
It can also mean a general disgusting mess. As in, "Our baby daughter did a right ol' dirty protest on her changing table, the other day"
(which just so happens to be true)

Used to eat there often when staying in Wellington. Often had to wait for a table due to demand. I guess in the description they mean that it's not exactly flashy?
