hi lads got the hang of the go pro but theres one question I need help with...when I have recorded a vid when I download and play on my laptop the sound isn't really loud? laptop turned to full also looked at settings and theres one symbol which looks like a sound symbol which is at 100% is this normal or to get more sound will I need to buy a external cable?

Sorry, don't wander into this part of the forum very regularly, but basically both yes and no you don't need an external mic.

The water proof case is likely the problem, and I don't think there's actually a volume level setting on the GoPro. The music symbol thing I think is how loud the button beeps are (off, 70 or 100% iirc). You can get open cases, or "skeleton enclosures" I think they call the genuine one. It'll increase the volume, but I was never very happy with the sound quality.

For better quality sound, you'll need the adapter and a good external mic. When I was looking the most commonly used was a Polar Pro but I'm sure there are plenty of suitable ones out there. One thing/feature I'd look for other than a wind cover (the fluffy bit) is a long cable. My Polar one is only about 1m so limits where I can mount the camera and still get the mic nice and close to the exhausts.

Cheers martin....i been watching vids on you tube for some tips haha...i have put a piece of sponge at the back of camera in the housing to try and block out wind noise but yet to test it....but its a good piece of kit and getting the hang of it now :thumbs:
