Indeed, wanted a dressier watch to compliment my ceramic gmt 2. The datejust 2 fits the bill, but is still pretty large and impressive!

Question for you expert horologists; what's your opinion on ORIS watches?

I'm thinking of buying myself a little present (landed a new job), and I started off looking at a (pre-owned) speedy, but then didn't like the look of it on my wrist. Just seemed a bit too dated. I know it has the history and heritage etc, but I prefer something a bit more contemporary.

The planet oceans look great, tried on a 45.5mm and really liked it, but I'd be looking at a pre-owned one again.

Looking around, I also really like the look of a couple of the ORIS models. I like the more modern styling, and price-wise they seem relatively good value for a well made swiss automatic. Cheaper than a pre-owned omega. It won't have the cache of the omega, but is there anything else to be concerned about? Does it matter if they don't have their own in-house movement?

Aquis date with a grey bezel. Might try this with a custom leather strap:

Artix GT with grey bezel and white chapter ring:

They even have a few Audi watches! Tie-up with Audi through their sponsorship of DTM and WEC. I won't be putting an Audi symbol on my wrist though...

Anyone got straps from this dude?

I like the GT, it's a smart watch and could be found for <£1k. I wouldn't worry too much about proprietary movement (if you were, you could find one or two watches in the Oris range that have their in-house calibre movements). I think the GT uses an ETA, nothing wrong with it, really. Breitling has used bought-in movements before and ever since the new rules on wholesale Swiss movements, it's getting harder for small watch-makers or value prospects to cover the volumes required to lock-in bulk buys on Jura/ETA/Sellita. It's why Swatch bought Omega.

Thanks for the intel Bam.

I went into selfridges yesterday to try on a GT, and then something else caught my eye!

Love at first sight! This is me all over. The Tudor north flag...sharp modern styling (unlike other Tudors), satin finish, unfussy dial but with a bit of a quirk (the yellow details and the power reserve). I like the fact it has a 70 hour reserve too - means I can take it off on a Friday evening after work, and doesn't matter if I don't wear it again till Monday. Not an obvious choice either, and not bling. Love it.

Seems quite an important watch for Tudor - first one with their own movement, and first that breaks from the Rolex styling.

I think I'll be ordering one on iconic watches soon Image

A miles better choice. Tudor mucho kudos.

Love the accents and the brushed finish. It's got a nice clean design, very Porsche Design/Nordic minimal, DO WANT.
