I love bikes have hasdseveral...

Started with Mopeds and Fizzies.
Yamaha TZR 125 - those were the days - open the powervalve full whack etc
Yamaha FZR400RRSP with Drem machine paint
Yamaha FZR1000 Exup
Kawasaki ZX-6R G2 with dynojet stage 2 and Micron race can etc

Sold the Kawasaki when Joe (our son ) was born- was just getting too stupid.

Anyway, it did'nt take long for me to buy another - I bought a wreck of a VFR400 on eBay, started working on it but just did not have the time to finish, so gave it to a race engineer to finish - should be back any day soon. Highly modifed, and hopefully much fun for a Sunday blast around the Gloucestershire A-roads.

Spec includes, complete 996 front end (forks, Brembo brakes and discs... was designed & engineered by a very clever man from Brunel University - slight overkill for a 400, but looks very cool), spondon clip ons, rick oliver rear sets, VFR750 17" rear wheel, Jap Spec full stainless race system, single seat, GPS speedometer and Satnav, re worked rear shock, polished frame, endurance fairing with single light, race wiring loom - the list goes on...... I got a little carried away....

Not the fastest bike in the world, certainly no where near as quick as some of the others I have owned - but should be much much fun...

Toying with idea of getting this bodywork just to finish it off...

Link is odwn at the moment, but there are also some smaller images on....

I will post images of my bike as soon as it is back, and hopefully before I have binned it.

I have 'a few' bikes out in the Garage. ;)

Sold a 97 blade last year to a friend, as I needed the room.
Sold a VFR800 last month that we used for touring on, but all was not lost as we
replaced it with a new Ducati ST4S (full raceexhaust, filter, chipped, etc) :D
I have also got a 996 with single seat, number boards, and full termi system for those
solo moments :D

I won't bore you with the others as they're mainly old or off-road.

I grew up around bikes as my dad has lots of vintage/veteran stuff, so I guess its in the blood.
Consequently I've pretty much never been without a bike since I was able to ride one.

Pete, who modified your R1 - Dynamite ?

Cheers,
John.

Dave, but close ;-)

I did the work myself....powdercoated frame (scary stripping it down for the first time!)

Ohlins forks and rear shock...Harris yokes with a full Akropovic system on (dynojetted to sort the mapping)....Harris clipons/rearsets and braided brakelines....Single seat unit with led undertray...and other bits and bobs I've probably forgotten about!

I'll post a pic!

I was the proud owner of a Kwak ZX12R. She was a 2000 model (original with the full grown up 180bhp block, not the later model that the officials decided to peg back to 155bhp).

Had 3 1/2 years of fun on her, but home & family changes meant she had to go & the fact that last year i lost 4 friends in motorbike accidents (none were their fault).

Before then i had a selection of Yams including FZR600R & YZF750.

I miss not still having the bike now the weather is improving, but her name lives on as the Cherished plate she wore from new (W8 PMC) now adornes my RS6

Dave, sorry mate, don't know what came over me :biggrin2: :drink:

Sounds like a tasty bit of kit.
The 996 is not the quickest bike out there, but tbh it is plenty fast enough for me to have fun on. After all there is only so fast you can go around a bend safely.
That's where the ST4S is handy, as it has the same motor with a comfy seat :nodder:

I was going to say its cheaper modding bikes, but I just recalled how much some of my mods have cost, so maybe not...

I have to confess too :bigwave:
Have a GSXR 750Y in the toy cupboard, now mostly used for trips into the smoke when parking is an issue
Still prefer to take the RS when ever posible, the phone kit does not seem to work that well on the bike :bash: :biggrin3:

Yep, have to agree....after doing a few bike track days I've realised you just can't go fast enough on the road (with any sense of safety anyways!) - still enjoy a good blast on the roads though, even if I'm not as brave/stupid as I used to be...

Damn....I must be getting old!
