sorry for sounding ignorant, but whats the difference between this and the ebay £13.99 ones that plug into your lap top?
done the jap thing, trying the euro thing!

No really, the cables on ebay will only allow limited function with old versions of VCDS software.

The cable here has the licence built in, you just download the full version from there site. Save yourself a load of issues and buy a cable like above, might seem like a lot more money but the product is worth it.

A good investment what ever the price.
I have diagnosed several faults on my car, my cousin borrowed it and checked out his new RS6 to double check it, faulty fuel pump diagnosed on my mates VW, neighbours faulty DV found on his Skoda VRS.
And if/when you move onto something else you will be able to sell it on for much the same as you paid for it.
Absolute no brainer and an essential purchase for any owner who is handy with a spanner to fix their own faults.
