Original wheels were renamed "Soft" as they buckled if hitting a slight pothole and this was a safety issue. Audi under good will offered replacement "Hard Alloys" for all customers with soft wheels if kerbed (and sometimes if not kerbed) so really when they state "Hard Alloys' they are merely letting you know that Audi have swapped them out.
