Stoptech aerorotors??
Stoptech aerorotors??
Looking at a set of new discs, found these. Has anyone got any experience with this brand and product?
http://www.stoptech.com/products/rotors
I've been contemplating the tarox s2's and loba options aswell but am I going to notice any significant benifits over the OE rotors?? If anyone has experiences they would care to share it would be a big help.

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
I think I can honestly say I've never ever seen a disc with so many x-drilled holes.
Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
Also looking at the vehicle lists they only have sizes if you replace the calipers as well (380 mm).
It doesn't look like they have an OEM stock sized disc (362mm IIRC)

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
They sell them as a direct replacement for stocks, with no need to change the calipers.
Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
They don't advertise the oem compatible rotors on the site (Well I couldn't find them and the vehicle locator thingy on the side nav panel only presents complete new brake kits)
Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
"StopTech® AeroRotor® Replacement Kits (ARK) are designed to replace your vehicle's original factory rotors, while retaining the factory brake calipers"

Which way should the arrow point? direction of wheel travel or direction of braking?
Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
And that's two in one day...
Now never seen a disc with so many grooves before!

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
Those Tarox discs look great! Did you need to upgrade the calipers or will those discs fit
the OE ones?
the OE ones?
Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
Those look bigger - 380 I'd guess (esp given the tight clearance on the 19" alloys... very similar to ceramics).Bsharp wrote:Those Tarox discs look great! Did you need to upgrade the calipers or will those discs fit

But... 12 piston callipers?

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
Hey Guys
Glad ye think they look well
I dont have much info right now but I wiil put up some more pics of the job complete in the next few days. These are from Tarox and this is the first kit from Tarox for an RS4 B7 to fit within the 19 Inch stock rim. The car went to their factory in Italy for fitment etc. Tarox will now add this kit for the RS4 to their range so I cant see why you shouldnt be able to buy just the disc if you wanted. I will find out regarding the the use of the OEM callipers but the disc size has increased also so I dont think so.
Here is a picture of their range of callipers.

I'm still in 2 minds which ones to get. I've had experiences with stoptech before really good brakes but then again you can get tarox which i haven't tried yet but the price isn't too bad either.

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
I have found Stoptech to be an excellent product when using on high powered GTR's
I had Tar Ox many many years ago and they were also nice, but the kit I used then isnt in the league of what you are talking about.
On my race car I use Wilwood radial mount 6pot supelights as unsprung weight is also very important on a light cars.
Personally I would rate Stoptech possibly above Tarox for sheer performance, but I think they are also more expensive.

Re: Stoptech aerorotors??
My personal preference has been towards grioved and dimpled rather than cross drilled.
99% afaik of cross drilled discs are made exactly how you'd think - solid discs that are then drilled. This does provide a weak spot depending on how good the drilling is. You can get forged discs where the holes are part if the casting process and these are stronger and more resistant to cracking... But hard to find and expensive.
Grooved and dimpled has all the advantages of cross drilling but I've never had one fail even when accidentially overheating it on track.
