2016 C7 RS6 for sale now reduced price

Post by stevo55 » Sun Jul 09, 2017 7:51 pm

Due to a need for a cheaper car I'm putting my C7 RS6 up for sale, it's everything I hoped for and a whole lot more but I need to move her on. I have only owned this car since the end of April and was bought from Cambridge Audi for over £70k. Last April it was over £94k with £14k worth of options. I scoured the classifieds for over a month to find one with such a huge spec. The only other option that would have been nice was Connect but every other desirable option is ticked.
Link to Pistonheads ad:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds ... 16/7448025

I would consider offers but they would have to be VERY close to the asking price. Car is immaculate. Had a ton of idiots and time wasters when I sold my C6 RS6 so hopefully this won't be the same way! Would prefer to sell to a forum member as they will take care of it better.
PM for more info or ask away on here.
New asking price is £64,500 ono

£68,500?!? Given you can buy one at a dealer for that sort of money without haggling, where they offer finance, p/x etc etc, you're going to struggle to get that on a private sale IMO. There's not many people out there with £70k sloshing around their back pocket all ready to drop it on a risky private sale.

I'd estimate early £60's max if you want to see it gone. Bang it on Tootle, it's a half decent spec so I suspect you'll get a £60-63k bid which is close to what you'd get on a private sale.

The Margin in these cars at a dealer is BIG!

Retail price for it is what I paid for it which was just under £70k -it was from a main dealer less than 4 months ago. Without going over old ground (there's a thread about this on the C7 RS6 forum), private sale is the preferred hence the close on retail price-and you always get more bang for your buck doing that. It was on Tootle before. Go on then-blind me with your superior knowledge and tell me what I should put it on here for. Sometimes this whole site feels like Pistonheads gassing which is a giant dick measuring board

I don't think people are having a go - or comparing dicks. This is a forum, not Autotrader so you should expect feedback - and most of it has been constructive, rather than critical. My car is almost identical spec and age to yours so, assuming the first owner haggled, it will only have been late seventies new (mine was 75,500) thanks to the huge discounts on offer. I hope you achieve your asking price - it would be good news for all us fellow C7 owners - but asking above etc odds and saying no offers on your ad is only going to hook someone who doesn't know the market. And most people on here know it well having put (a lot of) their money where their mouths are.

Original list price was around £94k last March (have seen the invoice at Audi) so don't think there was a discount. Am in discussions with a potential buyer at the moment and have had a fair few calls. Dealer max offer has been £62k. Also in negotiations with Audi to work a deal if private sale hasn't gone through so private sale or not car will be going to a new home soon. We all want the max for our cars and I've lost tons over the years it's just the way it is (although I came out of my C6 with around £700 in the bank which was nice and the sale and return dealer too £1800 more so it doesn't always end in tears and empty wallets!). Can't say an RS7 owner would be able to say he same thing unfortunately!
As for the criticism some people can come across a tad....blunt, shall we say? Constructive criticism and advice is always welcome and I love banter but there's a few on the boards that lack some bedside manners...at least buy me some roses first!

Glad you gave had some bites.
PS £15k discount is fairly standard on car of that spec - invoice may not show it as often loaded on to part-ex.

If the retail price was £69k 4 months ago, it will have dropped £2-3k in that time....depreciation fairies !

I would take the £62k from tootle

Hi Andy yes this is the sticking point! I've edited the PH advert now to say I'll consider offers very close to the asking price (watch the pi55takers and chancers try it on now-the offers and abuse I got via websites when I sold my C6 were ridiculous). If I sell the car for say £62k then I have to shell out further £££ to clear the finance which kind of negates the whole 'less outgoings' thing.
The C6 I came out with a few extra hundred quid in my pocket-can't see it being this way with the C7 though.

Hi Andy yes this is the sticking point!
Personally, I don't understand how/why you think you can sell privately at retail price. Honestly, why would I buy yours say over this from a dealer...?

https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar/aud ... 108221.htm

As said in my previous post, the margin on these cars is HUGE because buyers for these cars don't come along everyday and they tend sit around on forecourts depreciating, so generally it's trade prices dictate the market. With discounts at the time your car could have been bought for c£80k new, so factor in 12mths depreciation, lose the VAT and bob's your uncle you have a yardstick.

You bought a high depreciating car, and IMO the sooner you accept that the sooner you can move on and deal with the negative equity element. IMO, you might get £65k at a squeeze if you hold out, but it's an RS6 not a GT4 so I don't see it feasible to expect Audi dealer forecourt money on a private sale simply because negative equity dictates you have to.

Good luck if you can, you may get lucky and prove us all wrong, but to come on here and say people are simply willy waving, is very blind.

Just my opinion but try changing the photos, get some of it with some green background. Photos sell cars privately, maybe look at some others to get ideas, no concrete or metal gated areas make the car stand out. sure a quick google will give you some ideas. Spend the time on the photos and the car will sell faster :)

or just up on a high road, constrating colours for black cars makes them stand out, especially the arches and makes them look meaner imo
