2003 S4 4DR Manual 53 Plate Black - NOW SOLD

Post by MattS5 » Sat Jan 18, 2014 4:13 pm

2003 53 plate Audi S4 4dr Saloon. 4.2 litre V8
97k miles
MOT Sept 2014
Tax Aug 2014
Last serviced Dec 2013
1 previous owner (I have owned this car for the past 7 years)
Full Audi service history all bar the last one, which was completed at an independent garage (whom I’ve used for my other 2 cars over the past 10 years).

The car has been on the AVS service regime, but since my ownership (40k miles onwards) with additional interim oil changes and receipts to prove, every 8k (approx every 12 months). I have now had it reset to annual service routine at the last service purely for convenience.

A massive folder full of Invoices and paperwork accompany this car to prove it has been cherished in every possible way by myself.

As well as the standard S4 specification, the car benefits from the following extras:
- Cat Back Milltek stainless resonated exhaust (fitted within the first week of me buying the car)
- Audi RNSe DVD based sat nav with DIS (driver information system).
- Audi Bluetooth handsfree integrated into RNSe system.
- Full black leather, heated and electrically adjustable seats.
- Ski load through hatch (with bag) in rear seats.
- Additional light pack (puddle lights, footwell lights, ambience lighting)
- OEM RS4 pedal set including footrest.

The car has 4, almost new (fitted in Aug 2013) Avon tyres. I always replace tyres at 3mm, and replace all 4 at the same time. I find I average around 18k between sets

The car is garaged every single day, without fail. Washed at least once a week and is polished every 4 weeks.
It is in truly excellent condition and I very much doubt there is another in the country for sale at this current time with such a complete service history or as many extras.
It has been maintained by very a fastidious owner, and the car wants for nothing.

My only reason for sale is that after 7 years (I’ve only ever owned a car for 18 months prior to this S4), I keep looking at a newer B8 S4 or a S3 DSG sportback and just fancy a change.

This car sounds amazing, it’s so very addictive, accomplished and has been a great car for 7 years. I only hope I’ll love its replacement as much.
It must go to an equally enthusiastic owner!

Please note - Number plate is not included in sale and will be transferred.

£6,500

Surely not on its original clutch?
Are you open to offers?
Thanks

I've never replaced the clutch in my ownership.
It probably says a lot about my driving to be honest, it doesn't get ragged about from a standing start, only ever gets used enthusiastically when my 2 young kids are not in the car, and even then, I always allow 5-10 miles to get the oil warmed up.
I had expected to replace it at some stage in my ownership, I see some reports of the clutch going at 50k and others still going strong at 130k.

Horses for courses I guess. Mechanical sympathy does pay dividends in the long run.

Same with tyres and brakes. No need to be the last of the late braker's on every occasion. Now and again for sure, but on the daily commute, why bother?!

Offers, maybe. They'd need to be sensible and you'd have to have seen the car in the flesh. I get compliments weekly on the condition of my car and how well it looks, many from complete strangers.
It isn't a multiple owner, abused by kids/dogs/smoked in etc. type of car (although my kids do travel in it daily).

It is just a very honest example of a car which is very hard to find in such great condition.

I agree, offers before seeing the car does my head in...but knowing whether its even worth the trip if you don't want the pay the asking price is important....clutch is a concern @ 100k no matter how its driven....

Mmmmm

Sure, it is always a potential risk. I've got to also go buy another car for £20k, again privately, if I sell this.
Unfortunately, I won't get a guarantee anything wont go wrong with that purchase, but when you see people face to face, and spend time chatting to them, you can get a good idea of how a car has been treated.
No difference to having some young lad come buy it, rip it down the road once it is his, he drives it with no respect at all and something catastrophic happens. That's not my fault and I cannot mitigate against it can I?

Where do you live, are you interested in the car? I've got stacks of photos if you need them. Sold my last 2 cars that way (one to a guy in Leeds and another Manchester, both a 400 mile round trip for them) and one of my wifes too. You wont be able to fault the presentation of this car, that's for sure.

Sure we can talk figures, but not publicly on this forum, nor will it be for the cost of clutch as it doesn't need one at this current time.

I'm also putting the car on Auto Trader this weekend too, I'm in no rush to sell but I have 2 other cars to use, if it does happen to go quickly. (I'm waiting till I can find a Sprint blue S3 or S4 in the right condition)

It's a difficult market, but it just needs the right person, looking for the right car, in the right place.
I can see we're opposite sides of the country, so location might well have an impact in any sale.
I'll be totally honest, I don't really expect to sell it on a forum, too many people already got a car before they get this far.

I'm just using all options open to me, PH is ok, but autotrader always throws up the best cars in my opinion whenever I've purchased.
I guess there is a reason they can £50 for the service they offer.

I've put it on there for 3 weeks to see what happens. It's also a bad time of year to sell, I'm looking to buy a car in March/April, so should possibly held off until late February to place it for sale.
I just had time today to take pictures after cleaning 2 cars this morning and got carried away.

I've got a figure in my head what I'll take for it, but the condition speaks for itself as do the options and exhaust. The car doesn't "need" to be sold to fund a new purchase, so I don't feel pressured currently.

Good luck with your sale. (I've just posted some details on your thread about webuyanycar as they are offering just over £6k for your car, with basing it on full service history and 3 owners)

And yours has also had 4 previous owners and no milltek. Probably why it's rather different in terms of which people might buy it.
Good news though. My autotrader advert was live 5pm yesterday, I've had email comms all this morning with a guy who came and viewed this afternoon.
He was blown away by the condition, deposit paid and now I just need to sort out the plate swap.
Like I said, really good cars will sell themselves. Just need to market them in the right places, good quality pictures and be prepared to pay for the service of Autotrader.

I'm gutted it's sold, but excited to be looking for its replacement.

Good luck with your sale.
