Wanted: S5 or RS4 B7

I should hopefully be in the position to buy a new car in the next two weeks (took deposit on my Evo on Sunday) and with my dad and brother in law both having C5 RS6s and my wife having a TT black edition I'm drawn to Audis for combination of performance with comfort and class.

I am on the hunt for a S5 although if I could get a B7 RS4 saloon I'd probably prefer that but think my budget is too tight.

Whatever I get should have no more than 70k miles, come with a full and comprehensive service history, be HPi clear and be in good condition. I am open to suggestion regarding colour combination and if it had a Milltek or the likes I wouldn't complain

I'm based in Glasgow although I am willing to travel within the UK for the right car and I have a budget of up to £15k.

Would love a new rs4 but finances won't allow it unfortunately. Have seen a few rs4s around the 17,500-18k mark which I may still see if I can stretch to but need to call the bank next week.
Is there such a big different between the s5 and rs4 to justify price difference?
I'm a fan of audits with the wife driving a black edition TT and both my dad and bro in law having c5 rs6s

Rs4 and S5 are leagues apart.
S5's are still produced, but after the EVO think you will be left wanting.
Borrow more and get a decent RS4.

Would 18k get a decent rs4? Hardly drove the evo as it was away too hard core so really comparing to my old 330-340bhp impreza wrx blobeye.

You may get lucky for £18K... but it certainly wont be a "minter".

Yes you can get a mint RS 4 for £18k but it will be >70k

The V8 S5 does feel a bit gutless to be honest. Lovely place to be and handles well but you just crave more from that V8. I'd have a V6T S4 over a V8 S5. I believe they are out of your budget therefore go for the RS4.

Drove the S5, love the interior, very pretty car, sounds sweet n it is quick but going to see a RS4 on Wednesday to see if I want to spend a bit more cash for one of them.

The RS4 will feel lots quicker than the V8 S5. The V6T S5 feels a lot quicker than the V8 S5 as well.

I think both are over 0.5s quicker to 60mph, which is very noticeable.

Having test driven the RS4 yesterday I am no further forward, yes it feels a bit quicker and the clutch/gearbox feels nicer than the S5, but the dashboard looks so outdated in comparison and the problems with DRC worry me.

I've not written either car off but I just wish I could combine the best bits from both to make myself the ideal car.

The budget is also more open now, I could probably stretch to £18k for the right car but would need to be mint, have full audi service history and if its an RS4, have had the DRC guarenteed, repaired or replaced with warrenty.
