No problem Jay.

The only reason why I know is that I called him a couple of weeks ago when the advert first came on. It put me off!

It's all very well suggesting only giving 19 and a half grand but the warranty is worth a grand all day long. I tried exactly the same trick, offered the same and he let me walk away. Two weeks later I went back with the same offer and he still wouldn't budge - he conceded a bit and slung in 6 months and I wouldn't take it without 12 months MOT and a full service. Is it taxed? He tried doing me on tax.

Check the paint carefully too, they love using a good dollop of colour magic to mask swirls!! They've been around a long time too, you'll have no issues with comeback if anything goes wrong.

Just thought I'd pipe up here an put one's opinion forward.

Around 3 or 4 months ago, I was in exactly the same mindset as you; "If it has more than 4 or 5 owners, it's not for me", when I was looking for a C5 RS6 Avant. A well known forum member had listed their car in the classifieds and it seemed to fit the bill. After seeing the car and talking to him a few times, I was made aware about the fact that the car had a high number of previous owners (7 to be precise) which made me think a little harder about my decision.

I thought about this long and hard for a bit and to be honest, I didn't see why this should be put me off, other than resale.

The car was in good shape and had all the right documentation, so if this is the same for you, don't let if put you off right away, at least have a look at it and you'll soon know if the car's been looked after.

Good luck with the search but don't let a car with a high number of previous owners put you off straight away, at least have a look.

The number of owners is a completely and utterly ridiculous statistic to put you off an otherwise good car. Ridiculous.
Same as thinking a car will blow up once it hits 100k

Pigs also fly yunno

geordie jay wrote:thanks for reply guys.been to see it and its a cracking motor and the colour is nice aswell,as stated never seen this colour before and looks so different in real life than in pics.its like a grey/silver.the lowest he would take is 21k.but the issues that the rs4 has with the suspension has all been fixed by audi last yr so no issues with that ever again so peace of mind.also has sunroof and bose system, dont know if that was standard but he seems to think it was a option?.full audi service records.there a few stone chips on bonnet but he said that he would sort it before delivery.overall a nice car and got him to start up aswell,,,,,,,well what can i say......unbelievable sound and it was at that point i knew it was a rs4 i wanted lol..so im gunna have a think and see what happens next week, and i also got a test drive on wednesday aswell so looking forward to it..sorry ramplin but after a saloon mate but good luck with sale mate
Word of caution: the fact that the suspension has been sorted doesn't mean that there will be "no issues ever again". Three of my struts were replaced under dealer goodwill before I bought mine. One failed a few months after I bought it, and it wasn't the remaining original one but a strut that had already been replaced. They do routinely fail. Fortunately, my local Audi dealer replaced it FOC.

That said, it looks like a good example and the advice you've received so far is sound, especially from Jaysrs4. Good luck.
