This is the exact situation I am finding myself in.

My wife doesn't want me to sell and I don't want to as far as my heart goes. My head tells me that the sensible thing would be to sell up, get a new A3 TDI that will be over £150 a month cheaper to run and will be under warranty (peace of mind).

But as you say, there comes a point where the saving in running cost is offset by the crap price you must accept for the RS4. To me it is well worth what I am asking and I refuse to let her go for much less, fortunately my situation isn't that dire that I am forced to sell for whatever I can get.

By the time you factor in the A3 depreciation your probably best to keep the RS.

yup, the biggest running for cost for any relatively new car is depreciation ...
in this case, buying ANY new car is going to cause more depreciation than the RS 4 will over the next 3 years
