I have the worst luck ....

So I've had my car for all of 10 days and I'm on my way to the Slough Audi stealer at 8:08am this morning to have the massive 6yr service (the equivalent of the 40,000 miler). Minding my own business, tootling through a local village, lifting off for the nasty junction and *BANG* - I have a van in the nearside front wing. Yes, despite me being careful and it being my right of way, he just pulled out as he didn't see me! This is the result ....
I've left Sytners Accident repair business to sort it out and I'll be having a replacement RS4 (B9), delivered tomorrow.
The only positive news was that the brakes are good for another year (at least 10,000 miles), there are no engine oil or coolant leaks and the DRC system has no "misting" and is holding oil.

You won’t want the B8 back after driving the B9........

Sorry to hear about the knock. Hopefully a straightforward repair and at least no one hurt.
Amazed about the loan car. Normally insurers stick you in something awful. Is this one that recharges the cost to the van's insurance co?
Good news about car mechanically, so you went to slough audi in the end rather than the independent specialist?

LOL. I had an RS5 with the B9 engine in it - so I sort of know what I'm in for ... but it'll be interesting to compare them back to back. I love the engine in my B8 .... and with fresh oil, air filters and plugs in her, I'm expecting it to be even more epic!

I know you can’t beat the noise of the B8 but in every other respects the B9 beats it hands down.
Saying that, I’ve still got a massive soft spot for the old B8 and I do still think the B8 looks good on the road. Needs black optics though!

Absolutely. By way of an update - they are putting all new parts on - bumper, wing, inner arch liners, wheel etc. Plus full geometry. All parts already ordered and it's off to the bodyshop on Friday.
It's being done on Sytners "not at fault" accident management scheme. Hence the new RS4 for 2 weeks. My insurance co. is not involved at all ....
I had to go to Slough Audi to preserve the warranty and the extension I'm going to buy (or get into a huge and unnecessary bun fight). However, I am going to go back to the specialist (MDM Technik) for the DRC oil change and the centre / rear diff oil changes and a full checkover .....
I would also add that the Slough Audi guys have been pretty good. Highly reverential of the RS4, it was their Senior Tech that did the work and the Service Advisor, Mark, knew his stuff. He even went and double checked all of the previous history and a list of things that are required and at what age / mileage. Even more impressive was the smooth transition to their bodyshop and accident manager, who was "on it" from the moment he was called out to have a look at the car (while we were going through the paperwork and key handover). I know they make lots of money from this - but they have made it all go very smoothly. Of course I'm a repeat / serial customer, who has been going there for years, so its in their interest, but I do think they've given much better customer service than most. A "decent" Audi stealer? Probably.

God knows how the van couldn’t see a bright blue car!
Glad you’re getting it all sorted

And the Xenon lights were on! OK - they're not as retina burning as the latest generation of LED's - but are hard to miss. I don't think he looked ....

Now I've driven it - the B9 is certainly a more "efficient" tool, but just like the 3 month old RS5 I had in 2018, it lacks the character of the older cars. Hence why I swapped the RS5 for a Porsche 991 Gen 1.

I'd be pushing for a brand new alloy too, rather than having a refurb on that one, especially after it's had an impact.

Yup - it's getting one and a full geometry and suspension check. It was only a 5 mph gentle scrape, but I was told "better to be safe than sorry", especially when the other parties insurance is paying ...
