I'm looking at buying a car that is still under an Audi used car warranty (for another 4 months or so). I'm pretty sure that the warranty can be transferred, but has anyone recently extended their Audi warranty (with no breaks in cover and adhering to the service schedule)? If so what did it cost? Someone on here mentioned the sum of £685 in another post, but I can't remember who ....

One of the cars I was looking at was still under Audi. Think it was £780 for full component £600 ish for keys parts.

Oh great - thanks! And was that with an excess?

Full cover (all components, no XS) was about £1,100 for my 2014 RS4 doing c. 5k miles p.a. The renewal was c. £1,280 but they’d incorrectly assessed the current mileage of the car (and presumably the annual mileage I do).

In the end I went the policy with a £250 XS, which reduced it to £680.

Mine cost £680 last year and this - All Component with a £250 excess.

Hi folks

So in the process of selling my car, I discovered the below information which might helpful to those buying privately were unsure about warranty transfer. I spoke to Audi today and was given the following information:

If the outstanding balance of the warranty is an Approved Used Warranty (i.e. car purchased from dealer as an AUC, any outstanding term of the warranty is transferable to the new owner and can do that by calling the warranty team. In my case, I purchased in July 2019, so new buyer will have ~5 months cover via transfer.

If the outstanding balance of the warranty is an Audi Extended Warranty (i.e. warranty purchased by the owner after the Approved Used warranty has expired), it is not transferable to the new owner. So in my case, should the new owner of my car extend the warranty in July 2021, the warranty is not transferable should the new owner decide to sell.

From a policy type perspective, I was told this is distinguished by the policy number - AUC will be numeric and will usually begin 140****** or 150****** whereas an extended warranty will begin with an EW i.e. EW********.

Hope this helps - it was certainly new information for me.
