2013 RS4 sports exhaust sounds pathetic

Hello everyone!
I've been lurking for a while but honestly have to now post for my sanity.
I have two RS cars, a PFL 2016 RS3 and a 2013 RS4. Both cars have the sports exhausts and mag ride etc.
Problem is.. the RS3 sounds awesome. The RS4 sounds quieter than a 320D. The drive select button makes zero change to noise on the RS4, whereas on the RS3 it works as expected. Dynamic makes it loud. It also makes it pop and bang on downshifts etc. The RS4 genuinely is almost so quiet you'd forget it's a performance car.
After reading a few threads here, I had a look in the tailpipes at the vales and lo and behold, they were always closed. I've now opened them with penetrant and a bit of force and then clamped off the vacuum system.. but.. still no good noises or real increase in volume.
Are there more valves up stream or is the RS4 just quiet with the sports exhaust? I test drove another 2013 car and I swear it snarled, snapped and popped...
Thanks all
Dan
