Excuse my ignorance- I'm new

Hello all,
Am looking to buy a B8 RS4 (finally have permission from the wife), low mileage clean car. Have read numerous buyers guides, and some great info on this forum.

One thing I couldn't find- probably due to my lack of adequate searching skills, is the differences between the B8 and B8.5, and when the facelift happened (2013 or 2014?)
I think some options became standard like sat nav screen size?

Also, do you guys know if the B8 suffers with the same coking/carbon build up problems that the B7 did?

thanks!

Hi,
First, congratulations to have convinced your wife as it can be the most difficult step to get a sport car! 😬
For the facelift, I thought that all the RS4 B8 were B8.5 and even if there are small differences, the standard parts seems to be B8.5 ??
Regarding the carbon build-up, it seems that the rs4 B8 is less affected but affected.... I have seen pictures of rs4 B8 and rs5 with intake coked as b7 but with much more km (140kkm). Mine will have a carbon-clean next week at 115kkm, I hope that the missing hp in high revs will come back!
Enjoy!

Yes all RS4 were .5 hence and therefore had nicer lights being the main indicator

Thanks!
Just have to find a good car!

Looking for a low mileage sub 40k so carbon shouldn’t be an issue for a while

Good luck Scammo!
I used AutoTrader to find mine, and had the search set up for about 6 months before one popped up that ticked all the boxes. Once one does appear, it's easy to get a little over excited and take the plunge without giving it as much thought or inspection as you would do normally, after all you don't want to miss it. For this reason, I'd recommend going along to view a few cars that you know won't fit your bill, and you know you aren't going to buy, just so you can put things into perspective when the right one does appear.

Not sure about any upgrade to the lights
But they changed the paddles and an a motorised boot and you could have the data card and the phone connected at the same time previously if you connected the data card it would throw the hands free off

Good luck with the search !

I’m considering a B9 so may put my B8 up for sale in the next couple of months....still wrestling with moving from an 8 to a 6. Sepang blue, full black leather, sports pack, B&O + many more options but no pano roof. 15 plate with c18k miles (I bought at 13k from Audi Reading with a two year warranty last July).

I think I remember you on here looking at the same time as me Yanto. It sounds like we bought pretty similar cars, even the same colour. Mine came from an indy in Mansfield. They weren't pleasant to deal with, but the car has been very good.
So far so great, although the servicing bills start to add up, and a new set of tyres flexed the wallet a little.
