Aftermarket Aero/exterior styling parts

Post by Thundercliffe81 » Sat Dec 22, 2018 4:03 pm

Afternoon all.

I remember looking before and not having much luck with this. Mainly out of curiosity. But, is anybody here aware of any decent parts? Like, carbon side skirts, front splitter and rear diffuser? Tasteful 'extended' OEM style. For example, the C7 RS6 Carbon parts, especially the rear diffuser, are just that perfect level of aggressive.

I like how the B9 RS4 side skirts in carbon look too. I can't seem to find anything at all. As usual, the S4 B8.5 is very well catered for but not the Avant or indeed, the RS4. Was thinking carbon mirror cap replacement but they could look out of place with no other carbon parts. I think the rear diffuser just needs a bit more oomph. Especially on the blades. Any ideas?

Cheers all.

The rear diffuser is part of the bumper, so that is probably why no one has made an aftermarket one.
Some of the over caps, from what I have read, are poor quality. I think the replacement skinned mirror caps are better.

You could always hyrdo dip that parts you have in carbon if its only for visual appearance?
Not sure how easy the silver accents on fron lip and back bumper are to remove - but them along with mirrors would look good in carbon.

Skinned mirror caps?

Yeah. Well, I mean...I'd thought about wrapping actually. It's decent quality. But...my mates have an abundance of real carbon fibre parts available for their C63 and M135i haha. I'd just be 'that guy' Image But yes, it's strictly for visual appearance so you're right in what you're saying. The side skirts are all one piece on this too. Thought about ECS S4 Carbon fibre replacement ones but they're different. If I can take the ribbing from my mates, I'll look into dipping and wrapping. Cheers. For such a car I'm surprised there's nothing out there. But the 3M wrap is very good quality.

These come well rated.

Basically standard mirrors with a skin of carbon. So should fit and look good.

I'm sure if you ask these guys to skin any body part you want they will do it for you. There are other companies that will do it too.
Carbon wrap and dipping just don't look real if you ask me. If you're gonna do it, do it properly and get it skinned.

Pretty sure Plush Automotive will do it for you too.

I've been on that site. Thought it was pretty pricey. They had the best dejection I'd seen but as the rear diffuser is part of the bumper, it's just not worth it. I'll check plush out. Cheers for your help ImageImage

Interesting, I always thought the diffuser could come out?

When you have the bumper off there is a load of metal clips, maybe they have another job, as I have never investigated trying to split it. The RS5 version does separate, as there's carbon versions out there.
Sepang Blue B8 RS4, MY14, All option packs, B&O, Adv Key, Adapt Cruise, Pan Roof, Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust, + more.
Previous - Sprint Blue B7 RS4 Avant, Ceramics, Sunroof, SS+, Buckets, FBSW, Bluetooth, 2010+ RNSe
Previous - Phantom Black B7 RS4 Avant, Black Optics, Titan pack, SS+, Buckets, FBSW

Honestly not seen any.

Having second thoughts anyway at these prices. If carbon skinning is pretty cheap, I'd be interested. Think I'll leave aesthetics til the next car. RS6 has more out there. I do like that Raywell design carbon fibre key cover though Image

The top lip on the RS6 also separates from the diffuser in the plastic versions (the carbon one is a single piece).

So, it'd be bumper off, unclip diffuser, carbon skin and return...for mine?

That is only assuming it was the same as an RS6. I find it odd that Audi would paint the diffuser 2 different colours rather than make them separately.
However, looking at photos online and the parts pictures it does look like one part.
