Oil (Specific Question)

Hi all.

Pestered Audi for my pre-collection service invoice. Finally got it and the oil used is stated as Mobil Super 3000 5W-...and that's it. Doesn't say the grade. I can't get a straight answer out of them and I'm gonna need to top up this week.

Been to the Mobil site and only Super 3000 that is recommended is this:

Which appears to be a long life oil. Even though I'm on the short drain. Due in 7900 miles. Do I have to use this specific oil to top up? I'm not sure mixing is a great idea and I'm not even 100% the recommended stuff is what's in the car. Just going off the info I have...

I've read previous threads on here suggesting the 0W-40 Helix amongst others and I'll consider that at the oil drop. But in the mean time, be great to get your opinions guys.

Many thanks.

All oils mix, so no issue topping up. If you are not on longlife and you have a longlife oil, still does not matter as you will not be taking it the full distance. Top up with 5w-30 or 5w-40 and all will be good till next oil change :)

Cheers,

Guy

ImageImage Well, you are the 'Oilman'. Haha.

Nice one. Kinda what I felt in my gut. I've got 3L of Castrol Edge Titanium 5W-30 with same approval so I'll use that up.

Cheers!
