b&o stereo system

Hi Guys
Tomorrow morning I am off to see a rs4 but one thing is slightly putting me off is it does not have the b&o stereo only the standard system.
What I am asking is how much difference is there between the two systems, I know the wattage is greatly different but will it make much of a difference in terms of sound quality?

Big difference - I would only have b&o - am SE9 if you want a listen to a b&o one

Me too. I bought a car advertised as having it and returned it to the dealer as the standard stereo was rubbish. Massive difference in sound

Almost all cars have it so I wouldn’t buy one without. Sorry!

You can retrofit for about 1700.

I think you're being a bit dismissive of the standard system & the user requirements.

If you like music loud while in the car, then yes the B&O is clearly better than the standard and worth going for. If you're like me, and you have the music fairly low/mainly listen to the radio, then I wouldn't make it a deal breaker.

I had a sepang blue with the B&O and a Nogaro Selection without. cant say I missed it or even noticed not having it. but as I say, it's down to how I consume my music in the car. (n.b. I'm 35, not 65 so wouldn't say it's an age thing. ha)

Just come back from seeing the car unfortunately the car had had vey few options on it;
wc9 sports package
pcb driver assist package
4a3 heated front seats
4zd black styling pack
But that said it was a really good low mileage car with new tyres on it.

What more options do you want really? The car is a massive option in itself over an A4 tdi; a completely standard car is still a bloody good car.

People with a massive list of options as if it’s some sort of achievement engenders this attitude. Go drive the car, do you like the car? Buy the car! I get people want to wait for the ‘perfect’ one but seriously, the stereo (seem to remember It was about £800 new) is not the star of this car, the looks, engine and chassis are.

Each to their own, I'm the opposite end of the spectrum and love a good spec list because I actually use them.

Well...ok I'll grant you that Lane Keep Assist is a bit of a novelty option. But it comes as part of the Driver Assist Pack, and the rest of the pack options are rather good.

My B8 is exceptionally well spec'd - I bought it as a 3 month old demo. It had ceramics which I wanted. I also wanted the advanced key, reverse camera and auto handbrake. But the other goodies, such as the pano roof, lane departure, memory seats, speed limiter increase to 174, heated rear seats etc etc , I never use (there's only usually me in it, and the occasion to use the higher top speed hasn't yet come my way)
High beam assist, side assist and lane departure are nice to have, but I rarely activate the HBA and lane departure.. The side assist lights in the mirrors rarely attract my attention. The carbon engine cover is a nice looking addition, but again, there is only myself and Audi techs that see it.
So basically, the more practical options are worth having. It was probably easy to get carried away when ticking the options box when a car was spec'd, I suppose; many are nice to have but certainly not a must have. They may ultimately assist the resale of the car to a degree, depending on their desirability. Due to the age now of the B8, condition and a good history are the main considerations, questionable options secondary.
The Audi 5 year 90k warranty with it was a big plus though!

I agree with this, with a small caveat...the sports pack (bigger wheels & sports exhaust) is a must, the stock 19"s just ruin the look for me...

If that’s the one you were talking about earlier, it also has the full leather option and I’d imagine the auto elec fold wing mirrors as nearly everyone got them because who wants to get out of your brand new £62k car and fold the wing mirrors up by hand like a 1993 corsa!

What a bizarre spec. The very first option I would tick on a B8 is B&O. This car has a stack of options (including memory seats, reverse camera, adaptive cruise) but no B&O....
