.......and so I face the final curtain
Car will be three years in March ....personal feeling is that I don't want to keep it after three years / out of warranty.
And so the sale is on
70% thoughts are on the B9 S4 ....dealer has a spec'd car close to my wishes already arriving 5th January , so could swap sooner than I think.
Re. Old car ....anyone have a missano red and fancy a nice number plate to match ?????......I know number plates are highly debatable , but I have had nothing but positive comments about this one on the RS
Let me know if you are interested .

Yes , I know ....would be one option.
However , I don't mind admitting ......its a personal choice , I do PCP , put a minimal deposit down ( say £500 ) and budget based on my monthly contract outlay
I like a nice car and I like Audi....but , I'm not a massive car fan .
I've had 'S's' before and liked them.......Yes , its NOT an RS , but the S4 avant looks okay-ish on the outside , but inside I think the look and tech is light years ahead of my current B8
I will def miss the V8 roar . I will def miss the 'looks' I get when driving it ( the feel good factor) and I know I will get a lot less people admiring the S4 or commenting .
But I think ( based on tech and interior) , I will enjoy it just as much.
Its also a damn site cheaper per month on the PCP !!!.........and that also attracts me

There is 8 years of tech upgrade (apart from the 2011 B8.5 refresh) in the B9 so I'd expect it to be light years head, they have definitely up their game again. I can't wait for the B9 RS4, its was the increased tech (virtual cockpit mainly) that stopped me ordering the RS6 as the replacement and has me waiting for the B9 RS4 instead.
The plan was to trade mine in after 2 years, I'm now on 22 months, will have to go nearly 3 years it looks like.

The thing is .....I'm not convinced the B9 RS4 is going to come out in the next 12-24 months.
No sign of a new SQ5 , TTRS delayed yet again and I was considering the new RS3 saloon but it could be summer to even late 2017 by the looks of things.
All in all ....as I said above , I do PCP , pay little deposit and swap out of them whenever I feel like it .....I've got no probs taking the S4 now , driving it for 2 years and then seeing what Audi have to offer.
Also ....and I know money is no option to some , but next year will be another expensive service , year of tax (fair bit more than the S4 ) , definitely a new set of tyres, possibly brake pads needing looked at...plus the additional warranty fees.
Each to their own , but feels like the right time for me to try something new

The release date is my only real worry too, plus the fact it may not have an S-tronic box.
The g/box is an unknown at the moment, Graziano are working on an in-line 8 speed DSG with Audi but they won't tell me what chassis its for, it may be the R6 and not the RS4. I'll be gutted if there is no DSG and get stuck with the ZF box from the RS6.
I can see the attraction of the S4, I have a B8.5 S5 at the moment I picked up for the winter while I refurbed the RS4 wheels and have some paint done but at the moment I never want to drive it lol.

I've never got into the PCP thing, is it worth it? I just trade in when I feel like it. I presume the order process is the same with the same wait time?

Geoff, its an affordable way to get into a nice car. Just got to remember you cant mod it, and it can make it harder to sell privately if its a big outstanding amount.
Basically, if you dont have or want to use the cash and are sure you will keep it for the full term, its no worse than a loan.

Cheers, I might have to look into it, I usually buy new and outright including a trade in, it would be nice not tying up the cash in a large purchase I suppose.

NOT all true !
TRUE ; a very affordable way to get into expensive cars
FALSE; you do NOT have to keep it the full term .....I actually have had 6 or 7 PCPs and never kept a single one the full term .....you phone the finance company and ask how much finance is outstanding . That essentially makes your mind up ....your car is worth more and you have equity or your happy to take a loss. When you trade in , the dealer pays off the finance company ...deal done.
Kinda False ; yes you can mod it , unless you keep it the full term and the finance company takes it back. If you trade in before the full term is up , then it's the same as above.
Kinda false ; it's harder to sell privately ......never done it but tye dealer tells me that so many people are doing PCP it's becoming more common

Its a fair cop Stevie
I brushed over a lot of the detail, and yes you can sell it privately under pcp but in order to get the best price, id strongly suggest you go private and finding someone willing to pay off finance is not as easy as it sounds. Especially with 40k+ cars.
Which means mostly, you end up taking the "value" from the stealer which is never a good position to be in.
On modding.. i 100% guarantee your pcp contract forbids you to mod. Now.. thats not to say you can't but you will be breaking the contract.

Okay true ...BUT ....if you never intend on keeping it for the full 48 months , they will never know or care. It's not like insurance.
It's a bit like the mileage and excess miles ......I keep mine at 10k no matter how many miles I do . Again , the mileage rules and excess only comes into play if the finance company get it after 48months.
Up to 47 months , it could have 100k miles with no excess miles penalty!
Cheers mate
