RS4 with C7 RS6 Engine Swap

Post by Surrey Sam » Mon Dec 05, 2016 12:23 pm

Now completed by MRC.

I'm sure dyno figures and maybe a video will eventually appear. Also guessing the power and torque will be limited by what they think the gearbox will handle, that's assuming they've used the RS4's S-Tronic for the conversion? Got to be 600+ though.

Maybe it's just me, but that engine sound is missing all of the drama available with both the B8 and the C7 RS's.
It's all torque talk.

Yes they used the standard RS4 box. Last I read it was running circa 700bhp or maybe 750?

Surely that's cost them more than sticking a supercharger on the V8? It's still very impressive don't get me wrong...

I asked Doug about cost and he said it wasn't that much different than fitting a supercharger

Surely that's only the case if you have already got a donor engine.

Yeah, everyone's got one laying about, haven't you? I use mine as a coffee table. Chunky's mum has his spare C7RS motor hooked up to a di1do, no S-Tronic, her slushbox can take the torque.

You can spend money to make an S-Tronic hold more torque. The R8 S-Tronic can hold 800Nm. Many many DSGs/PDK etcs have been rebuilt to handle silly torque.

R8 is not an Audi gearbox, design and built by Graziano Trasmissioni, they also do the Bugatti, Lamborghini and most Aston Martin's. They have just offered up a 7 speed manual coupled to AM's twin turbo V12 for the Vantage, test car is out there and being used, epic apparently.

I spoke with the owner of the car and he said that he got the engine off a car that was writen off via the rear. He said there is always sombody writing off the rs6 so the engines appear often. He's an interesting character to say the least. Audi man through and through though. Had a nice rs4 saloon aswell
