It's the same car.

I've just watched the videos he's posted. The scumbags were organised and did the usual OBD port trick.

Scum 1 Pop smashed a window in the blindspot area (he specifically selects the 'punch' area) so the alarm didn't go off. Scum 2 immediatly reached in and plugged in the OBD port key coder, coded a new key which then unlocked the car. Plugged the new key in which activated the mirrors and steering wheel etc, pushed it away, started it down the road.

All over in under a minute. I suspect that car is long gone. :(

This is easily stopped with a £550 alarm from secure my car where he disables the obd port when the alarm is on. Can move the port too for extra.

Scum indeed.

I'm getting to be more and more paranoid. It's prompted two actions:

First I'm looking into OBD locks - any advice gratefully received

Second I've sanitised as much as I can my FB page removing as much about me as seems possible

Ref http://www.securemycar.co.uk. Has anybody here actually used them. The website is truly awful and half way through the Audi pages the text is talking about Range Rover alarms! Not giving me a sense that it's a professional outfit that can be trusted to rip my RS4 apart on the drive.

Anybody here got any real world experience?

For info, the securemycar chap has been getting some mixed reviews on the Focus RS forum. A lot of his (early) work was on those and there have been a few cases of not great customer service and certain functions/options of the Viper system not doing what it should do.

On balance I have to say the Viper system does look very comprehensive. If you can find a decent alarm installer, you can actually purchase the Viper alarm system direct from the states, for a fraction of what the securemycar guys do it for
Mortgages, Insurance, Financial Matters.....need help....ask away
RS4.....another :-)

The first thing to do is simply hide the OBD inside the dash (so it cannot be 'got at' without opening the door and removing the dashboard end capping).

Even better still, put a dummy OBD (that isn't connected to anything) where the 'live' one normally sits (just remember to tell the dealer come service time hehe)

The second would be Clifford Blackjax. Better than any alarm. Even if they steal your keys, they don't get the car.

I did exactly that Ian. I also set the alarm to zero delay, put a camera up and a really powerful floodlight and i hide the keys in an RFID shielded box so that detectors or range extenders don't work.
