Alternative Brake Pads....?

Right, lots of chat about brakes etc, but I couldn't see anything decisive about alternative 'non track stupid arse rape cost' to the audi oem's. But that could be because I didn't look to well.

Has anyone used different?
If so what?
Would you get them again?
Pro's?
Cons?
How much were they?
Where did you get them?

I am just about to send the old girl in to for a little tickle and a slap at the dealers and new pads are needed. If there is something better as an alternative, then I'll sort them myself.

I'm all ears people - talk to me.

From a B8 S4 Stage 2 RS5 brake position I've tried EBC Yellowstuff twice front and rear in a word <beep>! 1st time round I got through them in 4000 miles so bought a second set because I thought it may have been a bad batch and again 3500 miles and that was fast road only. Ferrodo DS2500 is what I changed before getting rid of the car and were like night to day better pedal feel more responsive once warm but did sqeak like buggery!

Both my b7 and b8 rs4's have responded amazingly to the yellow stuffs. Fine for road use (if you don't mind the additional brake dust) and good enough for 08:30's at the ring - 4 up :)

Have you tried Audi City for advice, I hear they're very good... :bigblink:

I'm going to ignore that! :P

So basically, yellows or stock. I have no need to ignore the stock pads, they're fine. With limited alternatives, I'll keep it as is.

Smudge. For day to day use and no track action, just go with ferodo premiers (spelling intentional). Cheap and absolutely do the job fine. I might even have a part number or something somewhere if you struggle to get it.

I've had to select an RS5 from the drop down menu to show you what's available but they're the same pad for the RS4. I've read elsewhere on the 'interwebz' that the Hawk HPS are a very good OEM replacement - improved pedal feel and performance, with less dust. Price seems very reasonable too.

Ssshhhh  :P

Wasn't much info on RS5's here when I was contemplating one, so had a nosey around a few other forums.
