Has anybody fitted a wider tyre from the standard 265, perhaps something like a 285 width tyre. I did this on my old merc on the rears and it did seem to give it more grip, only problem with the Audi is that you probably have to do all 4

Thinking about the michelin super sport as a replacment, anybody tried these

How often do you break traction that you need more grip?
When I had 265 tyres on my B7 instead of 255 I couldn't tell any difference in grip levels other than the difference from the different brand of tyre (265 were dunlops) so actually had a lot less wet weather grip than the 255 Goodyears.

Wider also causes other issues like aquaplaning... Honestly, trust in Audis r&d a little more

As above I would stick with the standard size
I have had Michelin PSS on all summer and can't fault then great grip wet or dry
Ran these on my B7 and wI'll be my tyre of choice none of the others come close unless Goodyear make the standard size which at the moment they don't

As per the previous respondent...why do you need fatter tyres...how much grip do you need on a UK road......beyond that which you already have.......

Good point actually brooner. OP what tyre are you on? That is likely your problem and yes, M PSS is an answer. As is PS2s or F1 asymms

That's what I was trying to say, decent tyres make a bigger difference than the width.

My wife doesn't agree...

275/30/20's fit fine and offer better run protection.

No tram lining at all.
