Hi All,

I have been a dedicated 4 year owner and lover of my current B7 RS4 Avant, I am now looking to change for something newer and auto.

My wife fancies the SQ5 and even I have been slightly drawn by its pace, fuel economy and ability to tow etc (we are thinking of a caravan in the next few years ) however I cant help think that sheer pace would not be enough for me in the long term. In fairness to her she drives the current RS all week and I de-coke it on weekends .

I ideally fancy the RS6 for the engine alone but cannot justify the additional 20+k/monthly PCP cost on top of the B8RS4, that in fairness I love the look of, has the characterful V8 and is a better size for her to drive daily.

We only need one car as I use work pool cars, I am thinking delay the caravan a few more years and go for the B8 in Daytona with black trims, pano roof, rota wheels etc, then hopefully and eventually be able afford and RS6 for towing lol (seems crazy I know)

Please convince me to forget the SQ5 even though it is by far the more sensible choice as it is cheaper to purchase and would probably half our fuel bill per month

Also a few B8 questions:
1. Does the B8 suffer the carbon build up of the B7 as I see very little mention of it on here?
2. Will it feel slower than my MRC stage 2 B7 (either way I want that gearbox!)
3. Any other issues I should look out for (DRC? etc)

Have you seen the £599 pm B8 RS4 post from Stafford Audi? I don't know what other deals are out there and how much deposit is required, but it looks good on face value. An SQ5 would be a great... Second car! Long live the V8!

keep the B7 and get a used well spec'd sq5 best deal allround they are great cars drive one you wont believe its so good for such a big car,the B8s not that good and soon to be replaced

The easy way to forget an SQ5 is to go drive a Macan. Turbo version for RS'ish pace or Derv for economy.

Was going to suggest this!

Macan S Diesel is a brilliant car, hadles incredibly well and the torque is immense

Hear you all on the Macan I like their looks/handling...... however the turbo is RS6 money and diesel is only 250bhp/slower than the SQ5, also the boot looks a lot smaller than the SQ/RS4, IMO too small for two young kids and our luggage.

Where's the get the B8 RS4 I was expecting???

Guys - Seriously though its not helping put me off an SQ5, its obviously a very good car by the sound of things , cant believe the sound of them too!

Rs4 has a much better cool factor though , I never tire of the attention the B7 gets even now.

Go with your heart mate. No point buying the SQ5 and then thinking everyday that you should have got the RS4

If it was for me I would buy b8, I think I would try and find a good used example, can't see the point in buying new so late in production, your only going to take a big loss in depreciation

Agree with you guys on all points, only thing tempting me is the wife drives it 85% of the time and the SQ5 would save us a lot in fuel, think I need to test drive both to rule the SQ5 out of my head.

Have not posted on the SQ5 forum, as it seems a bit of a ghost town

Is the B8 better than the B7 on fuel then because of the gearbox?

Was it the short non revving gears? agree on new, I would be looking for a 40-45k RS4
