9% discount - good? *deal done!*

Post by kmpowell » Sat Dec 06, 2014 5:25 pm

Currently mulling over the Audi 4.9% APR promotion that expires in a few weeks. Having spent the morning at my local dealer he's offered me 9% off the OTR price of a new order. The discount is also applicable to any options I spec.

Having gone in there to price up an S6, and being horrified by the residuals, I popped the baby buggy in the showroom RS4 on the off chance it would fit, and it did! With that in mind I've not been looking for discounts etc, so I don't know what the going rate currently is on a new one. Is 9% good, or is there more to go? Looking at DTD etc it seems to be about right (DTD etc discount includes the £2000 Audi contribution discount).

What have people on here been achieving?

Thanks in advance.

9% discount - good?

Post by doodlebug » Sat Dec 06, 2014 5:28 pm

Firstly, don't be pressured into buying before year end on the basis the deal will end. It won't, there will be something along in the new year, unlikely it'll be worse.

9% is there or thereabouts. If you're looking at S6s, it's a used bargain......

Just ask the dealer to match the DTD price, their discount is around 10% plus the £2k finance contribution. I think around the £7.5k mark is as good as you can expect at the moment.

Got 9.5k off mine. They gave me an extra 1k due to an error and I also have a q3 on order for the other half.

Thanks all - so it seems £7.5k is about the minimum I should accept. Time to play with the configurator! :D

Guildford Audi are doing so well on sales that offering a discount has become alien to them, however, having done quite a bit of business with them over the years my RS4 cost me 55K and the list was 64.6K. I'll let someone else work out the discount.... :?:

Morning All, a few questions if I may...

I'll be getting the car on a 2yrPCP, with a view to coming out at that point. The GFV is high enough for me to view my £PCM as effectively a lease payment (I.e. Dead). The dealer showed me that ticking options adds nothing to the GFV, however I'll be wanting to exit with as much residual above the GFV as possible so are there any option boxes I should tick which I'll see back money wise with an increased residual?

I bought a 'stripper' 1M which I luckily sold for a bit more than I paid for it, so I'm not adverse to not ticking the options boxes, however I feel there may be a few options that must be ticked here on the RS. The first being the wheels. My first thought was to get the 19s and have them Powdercoated to match the black styling pack, black roof rails and black mirror housings I'll be speccing regardless. But looking at the market it would indicate I'd be stupid to do that and I should tick a 20" wheel option. I know options are subjective, but I'm not looking for creature comforts as such, not unless they will significantly increase the appeal of the car at the end of the term.

And whilst I'm here, the RS4s going walkies without the keys, are they all cars with 'advanced key'' or are some going without the advanced key fitted?

BTW if anybody is interested, Coulsden Audi have fully specced (every option, pack TV etc etc) Nardo Grey in their showroom. It looked amazing, but it had too many options for my pockets. Here's a crappy pic, due to the really low sun yesterday...

Hi I remember you from 1addicts, you sold your 1M quite early. Sold mine in the end to buy an RS4, best thing I done as I needed the extra space. If I had the space I would have kept the 1M as a future investment.

That's me, I had one of the first. Picked it up June 2011 sold it around Xmas time the same year. I loved every second if it, by far the best car I've owned amnd I miss it to this day. Your name rings a bell, did you have the plate JEZ 500 on a VO car?

I sold it as we were expecting our first child. I bought a fJCW R56 Mini and a C7 A6 2.0TDi S-Line to replace it. Sold the Mini about 18mths ago and we've had the A6 since. TBH with you I need some performance back in my life. The RS6 is out of reach, the S6 suffers horrendous residuals on PCP, so I'm looking at the RS4 instead which seems to do all I need. It'll be a bit a squeeze at times given I have a whippet as well as a baby to cart around, but I'm sure we'll cope.

:)

ANY car with keyless entry is at risk, take a look at one of Honest Johns replies in yesterday Telegraph Cars section where he explains that under EU rules the car manufacturers have to make the codes available so that an independent garage can work on cars, which means that criminals can also get the codes...

A physical key is a more secure system, until the thieves get the key by breaking into your house (which is their favoured method now).

Very Nice. :thumb:

How have you found the significant drop in torque v the 1M? Is it hard work at low revs?

I must admit, this is the only thing that's making me think twice. With a very young family, the last thing I want is our Eastern European gang chums breaking into the house and fronting up for the keys. With that in mind, it's making me wonder if a 'stripper' will make it less desirable for thieves etc and be less of a risk in that dept.

If you are not hugely fussed about spec or buying used, the S6 is the used bargain of the moment. The earliest cars dip under 40k. A 40k S6 cannot possibly depreciate more over 24 months than a brand new 55/60k RS4. And over a 24 month timeframe, the S6 will still be the current shape, whereas the RS4 will absolutely not be.
