Current lead times / cut off date?

Afternoon all,
does anyone know roughly what lead times are at present for new orders. In addition, I've read somewhere speculation of when the production of the B8 will cease. Does anyone know?
Chairs (I'm being posh there as Wimbledon is on in the office)

I think there's a few variables in it depending on spec, but I believe a fairly standard spec car is around 5 months from new order but longer if you wanted custom paint, interior or ceramics
However, plenty of dealers will have speculative orders in the pipeline that, up to a certain point, can still have the basic spec manipulated (ie they'll order a safe spec that they know will shift from the showroom if no-one chips in and amends)
Best bet would be to phone around a few of the dealers that do the big RS volumes (chiswick, bath and a couple ooop' north) and see what they can do
Hope this helps

Thanks Graeme,
mine will be 18 months old soon, so I'm trying to balance value, age & getting something new to replace it close to the end of the run. I'm in no rush, just trying to get an idea & make sure it suits finances. I am contemplating going for almost the same spec, other than adding a sunroof, rami's & a custom paint, so I guess it could be 7-8 months....

Smudge,
I ordered mine end Feb with build week 15 and collected 01 May, this was because the dealer had one in the system. I amended the spec to get almost what I wanted. What I didn't get was custom paint, this would have moved it from build week 15 to 38!

Thanks Rev, that's interesting. I've contacted my dealership already to see what they say also. I'm not planning on looking elsewhere as their service has been brilliant.
Out of interest, does anyone know how the build weeks run? Is it as per calendar?

Should have added that if you have a look in the piston heads classifieds you'll see a few dealers have cars on order with various specs and shall I say "interesting" colours.....

You can push the dealers to 'trade' in build slots with other dealers out if their franchise network
They won't be keen to do it, but as long as they can offer something back to the other dealer, Audi will allow it
I guess it depends how good your relationship and nego skills are with your local dealer

I've been quoted 3-4 months, which seems quick compared to most on here. I haven't pressed the button yet, partly because I don't want a car until November, but wonder if that number is a little optimistic?

I was originally quoted 6 months or so, but once they knew I was a serious buyer, they just went on the system and modified an order they had for a normal A4 Avant, all they had to do was click on the build slot and put in my Audi code off the website. I waited less than 3 months.
I think it depends on if your dealer has an allocation available to order the car.
