Audi Gap Insurance !

Hi guys,
Will be collecting my new RS4 in a couple of weeks time and would just like a bit of ammunition before I speak to the dealer regarding Audi's gap polices ! So the question is simply, how much did you pay for your Audi gap policy with your new RS4 ?
Although I will be sorting out the gap on the day I collect the car, and I will be pushing him as far as I can (hence the need for info here), the dealer told me that he would do the £749 gap policy for £500. Is that a fair price, or has anyone got it cheaper ?
Cheers !

ALA was the cheapest a year or two back, not sure if that's still the case, I'd guess it will be still a lot cheaper than Audi.

ala.co.uk seems pretty good - got mine from there for my last car and just need to get around sorting it for my RS4
About 240 quid for 3 years for a 55,000 invoice price RS4 (with 25,000 claim limit)
They also seem to do alloy and tyre policies as well, but can't see i have looked at them in detail or whether it is worth it - however having just done my alloy yesterday then I think it might be!
also if you use quido cashback site you get 10% cashback as well

click4gap is another one i used for my car 2 cars ago - but you couldn't transfer it to a new car.
I think on ala you can transfer it if you have time left on it

Is there any advantage to the Audi policy ?

not that I could remember - they have tried to flog it me every time. Its one of those things you hope you never have to know how good a policy is - so very hard to say having not had to go through a claim! (touch wood)
Whether having an Audi gap policy gives you anything when you would have to find a replacement I doubt it

This code gives you an extra 10% off ALA.I've never taken out a GAP policy in the past but I am considering it for my new car, I'm always put off as most insurance companies do new for old for the first year anyway, so you pay out for the first year but don't really gain anything until year two.

Was just having a quick nosy on the ala website and I see they have two types of gap policy.....
1. Return to invoice gap...........This GAP Insurance will, in the event of a Total Loss claim, pay the difference between the Comprehensive Insurance settlement and your original invoice price.

2. Vehicle replacement gap..........This GAP Insurance will, in the event of a Total Loss claim, pay the difference between the Comprehensive Insurance settlement and replacing your vehicle new for old.

So I guess with most of us on here getting the decent RS4 deals at the minute, the replacement insurance would be the way to go as that would pay for us to replace our car as new for old no matter how much that costs to do so. This would mean we would be protected against price increases, or again, if we got a good deal on a car that we may not be able to repeat.
Ala looking good to me !!!!
* Anyone ever made a claim through them ? Opinions on how it went ?
* Just curious, is Audi back to invoice or replacement ?

I believe audi is back to replacement, although I was offered two types when I bought my RS. One Audi & one that was sourced for the group (I think i'm right in saying this - guess I should check!). Which ever I went for the deal wasn't as eye watering as ones I'd been sold in the past & I certainly opted for replacement rather than invoice.
As posts go, I think I'm actually stating nothing of use here aren't I.

Not sure why the vehicle replacement one is slightly cheaper than invoice one though? By a couple of quid so negligible really.
I'd assumed the invoice one was better, as when you actually look at your invoice the Audi contribution value is badged as deposited by the customer.
Quite interesting when I was going through my insurance around replacing the vehicle like for like in the first year. Small print says you might not get the same colour!

I intend to go with ALA as suggested above as it seems to be the popular choice, but am wondering how many years cover I should go for (3 , 4 or 5). I want to go the Replacement Vehicle Route as that seems to suggest the vehicle would be replaced like for like no matter what it cost, yet it seems only to have a £25000 claim limit like the return to invoice gap. So how can they offer you a five year replacement vehicle policy if it would take more than £25000 to replace your vehicle like for like ?
The list price on my car before discount is £69000, so how long do you think it would take before and insurance payout plus a gap of £25000 wouldn't replace the vehicle ? Have I just asked a stupid question ? LOL
